RhiannonBW
Remember the good times, and be thankful that she has gone with dignity. A vet once said, when asked how he coped with euthanasia, that he regarded it as a privilege to be able to give a loved animal a quick and painless death. Cosd
I have hunted all my life but this is the first dog i ever had. A beautiful black lad.. She was my hunting buddy, and my best friend, we hunted, we fished, we went hiking.. I would lay on the floor in front of the fire place and snuggle my girl. Alas, all things come to an end.. She was 16 and had a damn good life!! about an hour ago i said my goodbye's as she drifted off to sleep.. Cancer and senility had moved in, and she could no longer control certain functions. Dignity was the deciding factor, and though she had lost most of her mind she looked mortified when she did have an accident. I miss my dog and now i know first hand what it is to feel what many of y'all already have.. Totally feel for you mate. I lost mine to cancer also. It's heart breaking as they are part of the family! No matter what we say, it won't change the way you're feeling right now, but I can tell you that time is a good healer, I promis! She's resting now after a long and exciting life. jmooney
So sorry to hear about this Lee. I went through this about a month ago with my old sweet girl so I feel your pain. Hang in there brother.
Chris Bb
Lee Went through something very similar to yours about four years ago. Swore I'd never have another dog as a) it couldn't be as good as the one I'd lost and  I never wanted to become so emotionally tied to an animal ever again. Two months later another rescue dog entered our lives, no he's not the same but loved just as much but for different reasons. Will I be tougher next time? Commiserations but, as others have said, remember all those good times. And, who knows, those yet to come?
