John_R
In a can? Gawd... I just sunk a couple of bottles of Hobgob, no idea they stoop so low as to can it! I don't remember if I tried Goliath, but some of the rest of the range is good, but none as good as the Hobgoblin.
vole
Badger Brewery Champion Golden Ale worth a try too. Quite a bit cheaper now in the supermarkets. Delicious.

PhilR
Robinson's 'Old Tom' strong ale hits the button - dark with 8.5% ABV, only 330ml bottles though. Ringwood's 'Old Thumper' another strong ale weighs in with 5.6% ABV and finally JW Lee's 'Moonraker' strong ale again can't remember the ABV about 6% I think. Asda are doing a 3 for £4 offer, worth having a look. Thinking about beer at 9 in the morning must be an alky

PhilR
I had a couple of pints of Adnams Oyster Stout last night and I have to say it was very nice indeed. I could quite easily get ratted on that You're right MC - I forgot about Adnams - as a regular brew the Broadside is a cracker. I have fond memories of my younger days in the 70/80s pitching a tent on the campsite down by the harbour mouth in Southwold then wandering up into town for a pub crawl, nigh on all were great pubs to be in. Always seemed so much further back to the tent afterwards, must have been all the zigzagging we were doing The pub further alongside the creek from the camp site used to cook fish and chips on a Friday night but it stopped at 8pm, the bar was presided over by a dragon of a woman who ensured at 8.01 you went without grub There was a mark on the outside wall showing how high up the floodwater of 1953 had been - frightening for the people concerned. Went back last year to find nearly all the pubs had been ponced up with stripped pine floors, cream walls and prices to match.
Wesman
I lived for 20 years in spitting distance from JW Lees brewery. My parents still live there. The special ales they do are lovely, but the lager is awful.

mick miller
You are all of course, wrong (opinions being like poopholes and all that). Badger's Golden Glory is the best bitter by far, with Stinger a close second... Edited January 29, 2010 by mick miller
