Billy.
A massive thumbs down from me. It was a really bad plot and about 3/4 the way through I (and 4 others I was watching it with) realised who Little John was, after they mentioned him by name... One scene was just Saving Private Ryan, but with arrows cutting through the water, instead of bullets  The Kevin Costner one is by far the best. Edited May 18, 2010 by Billy. Mungler
I heard the trailer on the radio whilst in the shower. Russel Crowe started with full on broad cuppa soup Slade Brummie accent and then ended on Maximus Decimus Meridius. Not for me.

When you hear it, just close your eyes and think of Ringo Starr  ...It's quite odd listening to a Liverpudlian Robin Hood!
Evil Elvis
 Duh, how could you think a fat Aussie would make a good Robin hood? Anyway.....Robin Hood is for GAYS!!!!

Zapp
Crowe got very upset indeed (surprise surprise) at an interviewer who suggested that his accent was a bit hard to pin down. They should have just got Sean Connery. He does a lovely Scottish accent regardless of where his character comes from. ZB
Gordon R
I particularly like Sean Connery's Russian accent - far better than his American accent, even though they were both identical.

deputy dog
bring back errol flynn I agree, Old Errol Flynn was by far the best Robin Hood . He to me is what i envisaged Robin Hood to be. Cheeky chappy with a bit of bravado, a proper ladies man with loads of swash an buckle. Old Russel Crow should have stayed in the Roman era about a thousand years before. Defo out of is depth in this role. Should have stayed well clear of that part.

ZB Yea, it was funny, he was supposed to have a east midlands accent, whatever that is, I don't think I have an accent... The best Sean Connery accent was the russian (read scottish) sub captain of Red October!

HW682
Yep, his accent attempt is truly awful. I haven't seen the film, but have seen a few clips and heard the interview..it was quite funny when he accused the interviewer of having dead ears and got all stroppy. Bless him. hendersons
Robin Hood is one of my childhood heros. So i had to go and see this film,I had been looking forward to it for ages. So yesterday i trooted off to the cinema as happy as a bumble bee, even took the girlfriend and forked out for over priced ice cream and hot dogs (£18 for 2 of each I nearly cried). I was sat there watching it thinking this isn't the story of Robin Hood.It has to be said as far as mr Crowes acting goes beatiful mind it wasn't. His accent to me sounded like a brummie trying to do an irish mans accent. It suddenly whent into some socialist political rants before turning into the aforementioned saving private ryan. A total waste of my time and money. Do we think one day somebody will do this great dark story justice instead of the flim flam we have had to watch so far where he seems to get made out to be a gay pirate (errol Flynn) a wee scallywag (the bbc series) a chav who had a long bow instead of a pit bull(costner) or just a ******* idiot(crowe). nick
MC
Well I went and saw Robin Hood this afternoon and have to say I enjoyed it as a film, it wasn't the story of Robin Hood that we all know. It was as if it was the beginning as it ended where all other films have started, which can only mean there will be a Robin Hood 2 cominmg to a cinema near you soon. I din't notice Russel Crowes accent at all, and as for not knowing who the merry men were, don't you think that calling them Alan, Will and john was a bit of a giveaway? Doc Holliday
Haven't seen it but like the general concensus on here, I find Crowe to be a total door handle. His acting is always the same in whatever film he's in. I watched 3.10 to Yuma the other day and his role was as indistinguishable from many of the other characrters he's portrayed in the drivel he's made. He should stick to sheep farming on his "ranch" in Oz. At least we'll be spared the dross he churns out and then acts like a petulant child whenever someone criticises his films. He can't even hold his drink, the ponce. And Coster is just as bad. All his characters are the same. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Crowe & Costner aren't even seen in the same room. And what is it with foreigners trying to portray our British legends? Gibson in Braveheart is another one. :groan: If it's a case of portraying an actor in this who's acting skills are somewhat limited then they could have cast Hugh Grant as Robin Hood. At least he's bloody English.

For an 'actor' who isn't you don't have to look any further than Nicholas 'fence post' Cage. Nial
