I took this photo about an hour ago from my office window on the 33rd Floor at Canary Wharf, the fire's well beyond the Olympic Stadium, I would guess it's around the Edmonton area, just looked again, still burning well.

A lot of people here have gone home early, I hear some of the Stations are pretty clogged up.

pm to the rescue  16,000 police on the streets to night compaired to 6,000 last night all the cells are full so what are the going to do just chase them round the city all night again get the teargas rubber bullets and water cannons out how long do people think it will last dnt think it will end before the weekend

Water cannons now cannot spray the rioters with water straight from the main tank,it now passes through a smaller tank in which the water is heated as its against human rights to use cold water(the same applies for using dye in the water).

Errmm,

I hadn't considered the scenes from Tottenham, Hackney and the like to be particularly representative of the ethnic mix of the rioters and looters on the national scale. Perhaps we all see / read what we want to.

On the video with the lad who got robbed it was clearly a white guy who took something out of his ruck-sack. Ethnic mix looked about 33% white in that clip to me.

Laying blame at ethnics isn't going to help one bit, like it or not these are British youngsters and as far as I'm concerned scum is scum, colour has naff all to do with it.

that's not what it looks like on the live sky feeds. colour may not have anything to do with it but genetics certainly has.

riot wombles are cleaning up London. I detected 0% ethnic riot wombles in the photos.

I detected a fair few. The number was proportional to the number of white folk in the rioting pictures (that I have seen).

Would have been nice to kettle the rioters in, thow them some brooms over the cordon and tell them that they aint coming out til its all sorted out. Then do them all for criminal damage.

Hear about the Turkish shopkeepers who actually chased the gangs off their streets ? Their family network has not broken down yet , neither has their sense of community hence they have the strength to stand up for what is right . lesson to be learnt off them I think .

I was at a meeting in Wimbledon today, one of the office staff came in and said everyone out police want the place locked up? so 1300 we all tramp's out into the street and head for the tube, all the shops are closing shutters coming down etc, whether it was panic or not we don't know? but shortly after mobile networks were not available ( presume that's to stop the thugs organising the next "meet") either way quite intimidating, but good thing was I was back on a train and home by 1900 :good: oh and you could see smoke rising from the east side of london at 10am this morning dont know what area that would be?
