something called ghosting

Not sure if this is the right place etc but seams close to me.

I have come to hear of a modification called ghosting done on shotguns

something to do with removing a small amount of metal on the loading gate

thus making shotgun like the escort quicker to load without having to press the button on the side to load the shells.

anyone done or had this done?

were there any issues afterwards?

was your shotgun screwed up as a result?

Hi Masterzone.

Probably the practice of pushing the second shell half way into the bottom receiver gate, then pushed home using shell number three.

It's ghost loading and its pointless to do (in this country) in anything other than a practical shotgun match, and only then if you are shooting in either Modified or Open division. In many guns it also requires permenant alteration of the gun which will void any warranty.

The information the UKPSA has had on the matter from the police is that it does NOT put you in breach of SGC legislation as the loading gate of the gun is not part of the magazine (As only the magazine capacity, not the overall capacity is restricted in the S2 legislation). However, i'd check with your own FLD (who will probably look at you like a confused puppy for even asking :lol: )

iv got a fac hatsan escort and it ghost loads by accident quite easily,i have a friend whos applying for his sgc and take him shooting with me quite a lot,he managed to do it 3 or 4 times the first few times he bombed up the tube by himself, its just a case of the round not being pushed into the tube properly and it clicks back out, doesnt have any benifit that i can see and its a ****** to clear if you have to empty it (i can also see it being quite unsafe if you thinl you have the magazine stopper in thinking the guns empty after youve fired 1 round and that ghosted round has chambered when you think its empty)

cant say its done any damage to mine(saying that its only an escort) not actualy sure how it could as when it happens it basicly mimics what the action does except it doesnt load into the breach it just sits under the action, like i said tho bit pointless tho

it was quite amusing at the time and purely fluke!

like Luke said, it was done by simply pushing in the shell but stopping just short of it clicking in, the gate would be able to close and the shell would spring back behind the gate.

but thinking about it, if you had a 2 + 1 when you've put your 2 in the mag, surely there woulnt be enough room to push another in far enough to ghost it surely?
