Fenny, can you give any more details. As people are saying let's not jump the gun here can u shed some light on it, has he been out with you a few times then sneaked on you permission or was it a one off trip with him. I appreciate you don't want to start a witch hunt but this has clearly got people backs up.

Did the farmer catch him at it and what was his response. The more info you feel comfortable sharing the better picture we have of the situation.

I have a term for this type of person , a "POACHER ".

It's a good job your farmer is understanding , as this idiot could have nearly got you kicked off for good .

I was thinking of offering a day on my permission rabbit shooting , but this has put me off ,as have other members also commented too.

What an **** the bloke is for the sake of a call, I've no doubt you would of helped him to a shed load of shooting but not now.

As long as the facts are correct I wouldn't hesitate to name and shame him.

Thanks for my day before crimbo again.

Considering how you allowed him to shoot with you, which is a nice thing for you to do, it is a very poor way to behave.

I do think that, although perhaps you don't wish to cause him bother, saying who it is can stop other people having the same problems as you.

I'm not suggesting it, but if you wished I expect that it could easily lose him his SGC if it's reported to the police firearms dept, though perhaps that's a little harsh if it's his first time doing this.

It's not nice not having anywhere to shoot, I don't have anywhere really, but going onto land that you don't have permission to be on is not acceptable.

I sympathize Fenny, your faith in human nature and fellow shooters has taken a knock - never a good feeling.

But, you clearly enjoy helping others, you know that watching a friend pull off a cracking shot is as good as doing it yourself.

Don't lose heart. Be a bit more selective, perhaps accept applications only by PM and choose people you feel you can trust - I think you'll know who.

Oh, name and shame too.

guys, in e light of recent events in he media, people who cannot behave properly with firearms do not deserve to have a sgc.

if he really just walked on the land without permission, I would question his judgement in general.

it's up to us to weed out irresponsible certificate holders, if we don't police ourselves someone else will.

Maybe you should get your guest shooters to sign to say they can only shoot in your company, and log there cert and insurance details :hmm: this way if they return alone to shoot its easier for you to prove to your landowner that they are shooting without your permission, and you would have there details to take the matter further if needed, anyone with nothing to hide or intending to return alone at a later time would be more than happy to supply the information requested :good:

Only an idea fenny :good: but without some sort of proof,it comes down to your word against theres and you could end up losing your permissions, atb BB

Terrible thing to do.

What an idiot we have a few thousand acre shoot keepered by myself and my father and a young lad I pretty much set up did the same thing ferreting on my land behind my back.

Since then no ones been on and no one will until I know them thoroughly well.

What I would say Fenny is enjoy your shooting for a bit and maybe if you do ask offer a day again ask for a donation to the site or a charity? Most of these scrotes just want something for nothing.

All the best,

Liam

I cant get my head around how someone would have the balls to do it . . . . . . poaching with an airgun maybe, but with a shotgun  not exactly ''discreet'' are they :look:

If it was me, Id have a chat with the FLO as I think the person is too immature to hold a certificate.

I would suggest that Fenny draws the attention of the member concerned to this thread so that they can offer their version of events. If it simply continues as a string of "name and shame" suggestions it will achieve nothing and will eventually be closed.
