i am in a fortunate position that i can sit at a computer mon-fri 9-5 and pop on and off various websites all day while i am working , so i have noticed that a lot more posts these days are from people just joining and then asking for stuff ....it might be gear or more commonly shooting..... now i have been at this game for 30+years and was always prepared like in life to make my own way in my chosen hobby as did most of the people i know but hell there seems to be a lot of free loaders connected to not only this site but others too....is it just a trend or is it as things are these days

don't get me wrong i'm not knocking people for trying but it does seem sometimes that people just start shooting on a whim and not got anyone else into shooting to share with...i read somewhere about a lad who was 1st time app for sgc and his gf was more or less anti....that's life i suppose

I joined to talk to like minded people on something I am passionate about , give and receive advice where needed , a added bonus is that I heve made many new friends and aquaintances and had some great days out pigeon shooting and to the norfolk clay flushes and enjoyed some beach fishing with member who i have hopefully given some good advice to.

I dont thinks its fair to complain too much about people just wanting something , which by which I guess you mean permissions mainly as like you say you have been shooting pigeons for 30 years as have I and it is very very difficult for shooters now days to get a permission I only now have a couple of small ones and have been trying for the best part of two years now for more with no success.

Having said that there is one or two that just ask for shooting without giving any decent imput to the forum.

I joined on a recommendation from another member (markm)

Told me it was a good sight for general stuff to do with both clay and game shooting.

Ive not been disappointed and am glad i joined,

I also joined Airgun BBS at the same time but am very rarely on there, although at the start i used both equally

I started shooting last year after finally listening to my body and retiring from playing rugby.

I was in the fortunate position of knowing a farmer who granted me permission but I was clueless (some would say still am) and just wandered about disturbing quarry but not really getting off any meaningful shots. I had already joined a clay club and a member there recommended PW. I have learnt no end from the pinned topics on here which has made my field walks much more enjoyable. I started decoying not long after joining PW and in the last couple of weeks roost shooting.

I still have loads to learn and judging by some of the members posts on here they're only too keen to teach.

I must admit I am now an avid "other sales" visitor and this shooting lark is costing me a fortune.

Good shooting :shoot:

I joined as I wanted to get useful hints and tips for pigeon shooting. Yes I am new to shooting but I have a lot of enthusism for it. Once I get land to shoot on I will be going as much as I can. I joined here rather than other forums because everyone seemed friendly and happy to offer good advice.

My wife's anti but she's doing a good job of putting up with it!

I joined because the mindset at my gunclub was quite limited and I wanted to meet likeminded people... To be honest I've made a few bloody good friends because of Pigeon Watch... Although you wouldn't think they were friends if you heard the way they talk about me! :sad1::lol::lol:

I joined as I had just got back into shooting after many years, and the experience and knowledge her has been really helpful. The banter and chat is fun too, but some people take themselves WAY too seriously :) . A great site, something for everyone, long may it continue!

I joined many years ago after googling pigeon decoying

I thought It would also help me gain some experience and meet like minded people .

I have met some very good friends and some I won't bother with again .

I regularly take members out on my permissions but it amazes me that I have never been invited on anyone else's

I joined having got in to clay shooting and whilst looking for some info came across the site. I was reading it for 6 months or so before joining but its been a great source of info for me. I've learnt a lot just reading, but have pitched in where I though I might be able to add something. I by no means know as much as some - hence why I tend to keep quiet in the wings, despite being on here nearly every day (office job too).

I've also met some great friend through here and had opportunities I might otherwise not have had the pleasure of (oo err). For sure its had an impact on my shooting career, and that for me is what the site should be all about; like minded folk sharing knowledge/ripping on each other in the interest of competition. Oh, and the banters not bad either...
