JDog
I have just returned from two stupendous days walked-up grouse shooting in the Lammermuirs. They were stupendous because the weather was good, I was in the company of some of my better sporting friends of long standing and there were a lot of grouse (and snipe which were in season). The dogs worked hard to find the birds which were in strong coveys of seven and eight and although they had been shot at before this season they sat for long enough for the guns to get somewhere near them and get shots off as they flushed. My pigeon shooting companion saw and shot his first ever grouse on the trip.

pigeon controller
I've never had the inclination to shoot game birds , but I appreciate the work that goes into presenting them to the guns and the enjoyment it gives the shooters .Well done. JDog
Well shot mate... My grouse season starts Monday... I wish you and your lucky guests the best of luck. The moors were covered in birds. Some were very wild, others, in the afternoon heat, sat tight. We could easily have doubled the bag had we shot for longer. We saw only two 'cheepers' and the young:old ratio was 2:1.
