Ok chaps,

It gives me immense pleasure to announce that after a year of searching for permission I have finally landed a good few hundred acres. :yahoo: It is sheep and beef farming so not teeming with birds but plenty crow and LOADS of pigeon up in the acorn trees. :)

I knocked on at least 25 farms for permission to shoot and I was knocked back 25 times... :sad1:

I suppose you make your own luck...and I did just that

I now shoot for the farmer I beat for. Pigeon and crow to start with. :good:

Now, I begged my mate for his decoys last night and set up this morning. Manged 4 blacks for 5 shots!

Obviously I am in debt to the PW pot, so let me get a month or so under my belt and I will offer a morning out.

All the best, and thanks for reading.

Good for you. Before you ask others out just enjoy the shooting yourself. After all you did put in a lot of effort to get it. You will find that when you are sitting in a hide that you spot the flight lines a lot more readily than you would either walking or driving around the farm.

Thanks Chaps...

JDog, I did just that this morning. I spotted a flight line when I was beating last week, and the same line is there again as strong as ever. I reckon I saw around 2/300 flighting over the oak trees today.

I think a little roost shooting is to be had Friday evening. :)

Make sure you mans happy with you going roost shooting Friday night especially if he's game shooting Saturday, wouldn't do to be loosing that hard got permission straight away now would it  .

I wasn't going to enter any negative vibes to dampen his excitement but the same thought did occur to me. In any event roost shooting will not be much good until the leaves are off the trees.

I didn't want to wee wee on the chaps cornflakes but that would be better than loosing a hard got permission as in the excitement he may not have considered the option, scenario shown.

I do have a decent head on my shoulders chaps... but thanks for the concern. The shoot is up on the moors - The roost is in the valley - I have spoken to Mr Farmer - I will always txt the day, time and location prior to shooting so he can approbate. :good:

And I wont be shooting the night before a game shoot.

I gather from your post that you are a bit short of decoys mate. I am not planning on doing any pigeon shooting this side of Christmas so if you would like to use my decoys in the mean time you would be more than welcome. I have about a dozen and a half (or so) half shells and pegs you could have on loan till lets say around New Year. That should give you a bit of time to sort some of your own out - Maybe Santa will treat you to some. Being in Chorley you are not a million miles away so if you want to borrow them to tie you over drop me a PM and we can arrange to get together. I'm still doing a bit of crow decoying or you could have borowed my crow decoys too.

Hope this helps mate!
