bruno22rf
I wish him well-you have to admire his dedication and achievements in F1 racing-most likely the best driver the world will see for a long time.

remmyman
How ironic, all those laps at up to 200 odd MPH and finished pretty much unscathed, and then gets seriuosly injured skiing! Regards remmyman
old rooster
Live fast, die young. Off piste skiing can be pretty dangerous stuff, some suggestion that he had an equipment failure but not confirmed yet. Unfortunately if one lives an adrenalin fuelled lifestyle the odds are in favour of an early demise. Any of us who have done that accepted it at the time. He was amazingly lucky during his driving career not to have killed himself with his dangerous driving, it always surprised me that he didn't kill anybody else while he was at it! He sure got away with more dirty tricks on and off the track than is allowed these days It was interesting to see the attitude if the younger drivers on his return to F1, they weren't intimidated by him and in some cases dished out a dose of his own type of medicine to him. figgy
I never liked his self centred driving style, but he did a lot of work for drivers safety and was instrumental in bringing in the safety cell in race cars. The guy also done a lot for charity, football matches and taking part in other drivers charity events. I wish him well and a speedy recovery.Terrible time for his family. evo
very very sad news, one of the most fearless drivers I ever saw, hope he pulls through and has a full recovery but its not looking good, best wishes to Michael and his family Evo
Davyo
I stopped going or watching F1 when he retired the 1st time.F1 needs a bad boy,it will never be the same until an new driver with balls comes along. Its starting to get like football, the slightest rough challange and its an inquest.Hope he gets well a truely tragic event.Hamilton looked like he was going to follow in his footsteps but he seems to have gone off. Gordon R
Whatever I think of his driving, I wish him well and hope he makes a full recovery. It can't be much fun for his family either.

claycrasher
Never liked the man but you don't want anything like this to happen to anybody. I told my workmate this morning about the accident and he said "But he's got something like 300 million in the bank" I failed to follow the thinking and logic on that one ?? Hamster
He falls outside my top 20 for sportsmanship and fair play but would very much like to see him come out of this with no lasting effects and see him around into a ripe old age. Elby
GWS Schummi He was a near perfect driver and a total professional. Always enjoyed watching him race.
markm
Very sad news especially when his son witnessed the accident. I do doubt the 'he was wearing a helmet' part as he has been shown skiing without one on TV.
Elby
They do seem to be repeating "he was wearing a helmet" a lot
