-Mongrel-
My Discovery 1 is leaking...badly! It's a water leak rather than the usual oil ones, and it appears that it may well be at high level, either through the safari or rear side window seals, I suspect the windscreen rubbers may be letting by too, is this common? Any other probable issues, main problem is permanently damp carpets, now smelling a bit musty! Oh, no sunroof so unlikely to be that! aga man
sometimes the only way to find the leaks is get the carpet up, dry everything out and pour water over window seals, gutters etc and try to establish where it's coming in. worth doing as wet carpets means rotten floors soon! don't know if this helps. http://homepage.virgin.net/mark.hopkins2/WaterIngress.htm
Big Mat
hope you stopped before big rattle, you will have to get that series finished Stopped as soon as the uj went, sat there and watched oil drain out. Can't see any massive damage, going to fix it tomorrow ( only happened tuesday ) Series is being put up for sale
gixxerboy
I had a leak on mine. Headlining at both front corners and floor carpets and it ruined the fuse box under the steering wheel. Went through a process of elimination- sunroofs, drain holes, roof gutters etc and eventually found it was the windscreen rubber where it meets the roof. Bead of Tiger Seal under the rubber then another fine bead where it meets metal and job sorted. Not leaked for two years now... four-wheel-drive
The problem is most of the time when you find out that you have got a leak the damage has already been done ie the rust has started. Then you have got the job of finding out where it is coming from you find one leak and fix it only to find it coming in another place. Trevorevans
Oil out and water in is pretty much the norm. Mine has had leaks from both sunroofs, from an auxiliary ariel fitted by a previous owner (now removed) and through the windscreen. Got a feeling I've got some coming in from where the water collects at the bottom of the windscreen top of the bulkhead under the bonnet. gixxerboy
I was told the Discovery was so called as it was for the owner to "discover" where the next leak would be.
Royboy
Did a repair to a disco 2 a couple of months ago and it was the roof bar seals. Had to remove the headlining

four-wheel-drive
I think on most cars windscreen leaks are the worst to find and fix as it is hard to find them without removing the dash door and window rubbers are simple to fix if a bit expensive buying new ones one option for the windscreen is to throw a stone at it and get a new one fitted on your insurance. Scully
It's quicker and easier to wait for a nice sunny day, shut all doors windows etc and then fill Disco' through sunroof. Wet patches on ground will point you in the right direction..
Albert 888
Mine leaks in through the hole in the sil just under my right foot, leaks through the hole in the boot floor and both sunroofs leak in also. Just found all this out today as I removed. All the carpets and soundproofing, glad I got a new bottle of gas for the welder and shame its not summer. On a good note I have no oil or coolant leaks at all,and yes I did put some in:-D.
FatherandSon
The time to worry is when they stop leaking, it means theyve ran out of fluids!
