old rooster
Most annoying part of the fishing programmes is the wasted opportunities in some of the shows, some of the fishing is pretty daft in countries where there is much better potential. Don't know if that is done to try and make it attractive to a wider audience but it does seem a pity to do all that travelling then not fish for the best species available? Found the New Zealand programme particularly disappointing. As for the bloke himself he is just an entertainer, plenty I'd put on my dislike list ahead of him! Penelope
A long, long time ago my grandfather baited a swim for him for a dace fishing session for an Out of Town episode. kent
He always talks of his skill with a fly rod yet makes the average instructor wince! Watched him thrashing away with the fly rod like he was beating an old rug last night. Never Liked Wilson though very arrogant chap IMO and I have met him and talked, they must have to pay his guides extra not to gob him Out of the two of them I think old Robson comes out better
Penelope
Back in the late 90's I used to fish the King's Weir section of the River Lea on the Essex/Herts border, and one winter's day I had caught a nice Chub, just over 5lbs from right under my feet, so took a walk to let the swim settle, my stroll took me over the weir, where Fred Crouch (a well known southern barbel angler - recently passed away) was fishing in the No.1 East weir swim (he used to give lessons/tutorials and block booked the swim). I knew Fred well enough to say hello to and did so, he asked if I had caught and I told him about the chub. I also said 'hello John', to the angler who was fishing with him, who looked up, sneered and then turned his head away. Yep, Mr. Wilson. So I know where you are coming from regarding his arrogance. I have a friend who writes for the Angling Times and he has said the same. Give me Green over that self important **** anyday. bruno22rf
I was chatting to some of the local farmers a number of years back (more than I care to remember) who owned land around the property that Jack Hargreaves owned-reckoned he was not a popular character locally because he bought the rights to all the best shooting. yates
My major issue with Mr Green is his Northumberland TV series. It was very good and i fear that every man and his dog will now want to come and stay, spoiling the tranquiity and remoteness that make the place so good. As for the fishing i find him annoying but then again he is the one who is being paid for doing something he loves so i maybe just be being envious. old rooster
As a fishing presenter I always had a chuckle at Rex Hunt. Yibba da yibbada thank your mother for the rabbits
margun
I've met him - he was on the same flight as me on the way home from Prague in November. He was very gracious and didn't mind posing for a picture with the missus (who's a fan).

Never Liked Wilson though very arrogant chap IMO and I have met him and talked, they must have to pay his guides extra not to gob him Out of the two of them I think old Robson comes out better I was going to say something very similar....in his first series his casting was an utter joke, at least now he keeps hold of the rod with both hands, as for his skills with a fly rod...I reckon my wife could cast more smoothly and accurately than him after only having tried to teach her twice! I have also met Wilson, thoroughly unpleasant arrogant chap, all that rubbish playing with the drag and making it appear fish were fighting harder than they are. I would rather fish with Robson than Wilson, but given the choice I'd just take my terrier!
Fabhui
I don't fish as I just have no interest in the sport whatsoever but I do watch Robson's fishing programs as he makes them entertaining and I've seen some of the weirdest looking specimens on there. I think he's the sort of bloke you could have a good laugh with over a pint.
Cranfield
He plays up to the camera, which I think he is expected to do, in the fishing shows, but he is happy to laugh at himself and seems a decent sort of bloke.
Pastiebap
He's no different to a lot of other fishermen. Robson that is. My great uncle used to match fish a lot and always said that Wilson was a knob.
norfolk dumpling
Met someone who worked with him and was a bit like ladies bits off screen. Don't like watching him even though its hard to find hunting, shooting or fishing on tv.
harry flashman
I think he is ok in general, but pretty sure I saw him bow-fishing for carp in america in one episode, don't think that should be on TV
Fal
I actualy don't mind watching the channel 5 program, but I only think that's because of the serious lack of fishing programs on TV, the places he gets to fish are amazing! Field Sports Channel are making a new fishing series, I have seen one episode and quite enjoyed it. It's out every Friday I think at 7pm. Penelope
An invasive non native species causing damage to the environment for native species. I do think that they should be given last rights when boated though, as opposed to being chucked in the fish box. I think he is ok in general, but pretty sure I saw him bow-fishing for carp in america in one episode, don't think that should be on TV

Agreed they should despatch them once caught.

He does have a really annoying habit of dropping most fish he catches - if he can't keep hold of them he shouldn't try as I am sure he is injuring fish when he drops them on rocks. Yes, the likes of Fred Crouch feed the likes of those folk all they know and are never credited! I met up with this bloke when he came up to fish the Ribble - a proper thinking angler. One thing I should never do is let Wilson near my wife or daughters, I suspect the women thing is perhaps why he became a hairdresser. Perhaps he got into TV through "friends" ? escortmagnum999
Robson Green lives about 5 miles from me, see him quite regularly. Iv been lucky enough to fish with him for a couple of hours, he's a complete gentleman. Its worth remembering he's playing a part for extreme fishing, but I really couldn't fault his attitude and manner towards me. Just my opinion of course.
