Essex Keeper
Got to a farm I've shot pigeons on for the last 6 years Went out this afternoon after catching on paperwork got all set up Had shot 7 pigeons when a pick up turns up This chap walking/ marching doesn't look happy coming up the head land so polite as allways I walk out with a smile "Afternoon " **** did hit the fan the chap was not happy so got my letters out phoned the land owner and guess what ! The new contractors have all the Shooting rights since 2013 the blokes trying to say he wants to phone the police ! So I've lost 700acres of beans and rape What's really ****** me off though was the landowner gave me my new permission letter only last December Now sitting at home with the hump

JDog
I doubt very much that the pigeon shooting rights have been written into the contract to farm the land. The two are usually kept very separate. Speak to the farmer again before you give up hope.

mossy835
on one of my farms i shoot, the farmer died 5 years ago and the son has taken over 4 of the fields i cant go on them now,and he has just put in beans, pigeons all over the place,i can still shoot the rest of the farm its just that i have lost 40 acres,so not to bad.his sister said carry on on her land,i shoot the farm next to the 4 fields so i decoy the pigeon and crows over on to it so still had some sport.hope you get your land back. Essex Keeper
So the farmer rings and asks me to come over I get to the farm and the same pick up is there as well So into the office I go and we have a long chat And the outcome ? The farm contractor has the vermin wrights and I'm to stay of the land ! On the way out back to the truck the contractor Phil says I can shot the pigeons for £60 a day

Mentalmac
Well hopefully the pigeons come in thick and fast and destroy the crop you aren't allowed to protect anymore, then you can feel good in the knowledge twas their doing, not yours. Have you got any land alongside the parts you lost?
955i
On the way out back to the truck the contractor Phil says I can shot the pigeons for £60 a day And this is what happens when people start paying for pigeon days I'm afraid
steveyg
And this is what happens when people start paying for pigeon days I'm afraid disagree, getting permission is like winning the lottery. For some people, paying is their only route into pigeon shooting. I have been trying very hard for over 12 months with limited success. If it wasn't for this forum and some of its members... I would have given up shooting months ago. I have paid and will continue to pay to ensure I can get out and enjoy the sport.. cheers Steve

robbietherimmer
why wish that the farmers crop gets destroyed?? its his land and he is entitled to do what he wants with it. All this bull re `my permission` this and `my permission` that. If you don't own the land then you either pay to shoot, join a clay club or are reliant on a bit of fortune here and there. the farmers doing you a favour letting you shoot-all these folk who think their doing a sterling service and the farms would go t1ts up without you-do us a favour and wake up-you mean nothing to the farmer

The farmer is doing you a favour letting you shoot but you are also doing him a big favour doing it paying for a setup carts every time your out walking a long way to the flight line so as not to damage the fields/headland. So it works both ways as for his permission it is a permission he never said it was exclusive to him. He's just a bit miffed that he now can't shoot it. So jump down off your high horse Rimmer
