hoggysreels
Hector .. l absolutely accept it to be the photographic image quality .. its a fine gun. i've heard the AYA Cosmos are very good 12 bore single barrel shotguns, one day l must look into acquiring one. Mr Jackson the gunsmith at Ellesmere Port whilst chatting to him, happened to mention that the Webley Model 100 was a far better 12 bore single design/reliable, than the BSA Snipe, in his opinion. Ive not owned one, so can't comment ... though if anyone can find any proof that there actually was a BSA Scout single 12 bore, l'd like to hear more .. chees

robbiep
Probably ... I know that's not a very good answer, but go to the place that really specialises in them http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/SG_Hushpower.htm Must admit, having a moderated shotgun would be kinda useful on occasion

compo90
You can now buy a 12g moderator from hushpower that you can fit yourself, the gun obviously can not have a rib, and you may need to remove the bead also, I did consider getting one for the single boito I have, but I managed to afford a hushpower moderated baikal as well so I have kept the boito in its original state. Hushpower moderators work best with subsonic ammo, and are really good for shooting near roads, houses or jumpy livestock (I shoot on and near a few horsey places)

phaedra1106
More info, more info. This is what im looking for. where you get, whats its grouping like and how much was the rifle? Cost me £495 from Wayne at North West Custom Parts. Grouping at 25m with 120gr lead "Soupcan" boolits and 3.1gr of N310 at 980fps is around 3/4" maximum but that's down to me not being very steady and using the Lee auto disk powder measure for a very small amount of powder. A friend shot it last night at 30m and got consistent 1/2" groups off a basic rest, with a bipod on I'm sure it will group better. I've only tried it at 100m once and got sub 4" but that was with a very low power scope (1.5-5x) and 168gr bullets with 16.5gr of Hodgdon H110 (about 1980fps), for longer distances I believe it prefers around 200gr but not had the chance to test it out. This is it with the original stock, It's a special version of the NEF Handi Rifle made by Advance Armament, http://www.advanced-armament.com/300-AAC-Blackout--Handi-Rifle_p_630.html I replaced the factory stock with an ATI I got from Walmart (US) for £30, it's fitted with a Wildcat Predator mod and is very quiet with sub-sonic loads. There's also a review in Gun Mart, http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/300_blackout_silenced_rifles Edited May 1, 2014 by phaedra1106

There's also a review in Gun Mart, http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/300_blackout_silenced_rifles I suspect it might do better with a heavier bullet but at those figures of accuracy it bring big questions of why? What for? If 4" at 100 is its very best its not good enough for fox or deer (even if it was legal on deer)
theshootist
Think if l ever find the 2.5" 14g cartridge l will have a dabble ... till the lm using the 12.5g eley fibre wads ... will keep an eye out for the Saga cartridges ! Express make a nice 14g 2.5" .410. I use it in both my .410s to good effect. I am finding that the 6s and 7s pattern better than 5s. 5s may be a step too far in my guns. I got sub 4" at 100yds but with such a low power scope I couldn't see the target very easily (1" black dot on an A4 sheet) I'm sure it shoots a lot better than that!, given the reports I've read about others shooting 300aac it's a very accurate round. The Gun Mart review using 220gr Sierra Round Nose Soft Point Game Kings got 1" at 100yds, as for deer legal it says "Putting the 110-grain V-MAX over the chrono showed an average speed of 2385 fps and a corresponding energy of 1389 ft/ lbs, so eminently small deer legal." Good luck with it and let us know. I don't bother with UK reviews personally have no faith in them, experiment and see how you do

I have been on the look out for a while. Either the whisper or blackout. Single shot is what I want and in gutted I did buy one a little while ago when I saw a few being sold off cheap. I agree 6's are an ideal cartridge for the .410. ... but l suppose we all find out through experience. Thats said, l hit very little with my .410. Im a persistant chap though. I intend on giving it some serious use whilst decoying (which is new to me) .. lve been a strolling rough shooter for most of my shooting days. I had a very long break from shooting and only returned a few years back. I find the singles far more enjoyable than doubles. Though that said ld like an English sbs, a cheapish one, possibly BSA etc (shouldnt have written that on a single barrel thread lol )

I hit everything. If it hangs around long enough. Eventually....

compo90
When I had the 410, it was primarily a teaching tool for my son, however I did also use it occasionally, what frsutrated me was the poor selection of ammo loads, most were 7's and 8's...... I had some 5's and killed nearly everything I shot at with those but then couldn't get that load again? 6's are good for most rough shooting in pretty much any gauge/bore or load......but again I felt that if I had taken an inch off the barrel and widened the choke in that way it would have been a better shotgun....... In fact that may be my next mission, buy a single shot 410 and open the choke
theshootist
When I get the chance I will put some pics of my GPs up. I have one fully moderated (still makes me feel guilty) and one with the better wood and blueing like the one pictured earlier in the thread. I saw one recently with a 34" barrel, but it sold before I had the chance to do something that would wind my OH up even more!

At 30 yards mine is at its max, its not velocity its patterns and shot count
