hoggysreels
Camo face masks ... are they worth buying. Do you consider them to be an essential addition when decoying pigeon/crow etc? If so, which one is the one to go for ... cheers
fenboy
I tend to wear one if there are lots of birds about and I spend a lot of time looking over the net. The deerhunter ones are good quality.
Kes
Make sure its a veil not an 'over head' type as they get very hot and uncomfortable. There is a very light net 'oak leaf' 3D type from Bushwear which is 'over the head' but cool and effective. Roost shooting its a must but decoying not absolutely necessary. Scully
If I'm in a proper hide then I don't feel the need, but if just mooching about in a hedgerow then yes, I'll use one.
Penelope
I use one of these on occasions, sometimes just rolled up to form a hat. Handy when it's hot as they allow the breeze to cool the bonce. I think they allow a few liberties to be taken when looking over the net Make sure its a veil not an 'over head' type as they get very hot and uncomfortable. motty
I generally use a stretchy spandex mask. I pretty much wear it all the time, be it for wildfowling or pigeon shooting, but only when it's fairly warm. For cold conditions, my thinsulate balaclava is worn. wymberley
Not necessary if you look through the hide and not over it.
Penelope
Very true, but I like to have the top of my hide just below chin height as I shoot sitting. Not necessary if you look through the hide and not over it.

The Essex Hunter
I use the Army green snood's when it is not to hot! They pull up an over the back of my neck so good for the winter. Summer decoying I tend not to wear one as I keep the hide poles up high and look through... For in the high seat I have the army mesh scarf.... spinach
Jack pyke hat and veil bald head , when walking about behind a hide veil up roost shooting veil down, annoying to begin with and amazingly gives that extra split second, it also seems to build confidence, also round here for rabbits whereas down near MIL you can sit on a wall and knock em down as long as you don't use the same wall too long! Mind you the number of rabbits they have is amazing.
Tim Kelly
Those buff things are quite useful. You can get them in green or camo and thin summer weight or heavier winter weight. Not uncomfortable to wear at all. Not sure how necessary any of them are though, but sometimes it's better safe than pregnant, so to speak. Redgum
Have a neoprene camo face mask I pick up for my son at the Midland last year. Great for haloween but very restrictive in the field, camo snood and keep still is by far the best tactic.
Cranfield
I recently bought a Mossy Oak Hunting Hawkeye Mesh Mask from eBay. It is a full front and back mask, not over the head and has a large wired eye area, especially for those that shoot wearing glasses. So far I am very impressed with it and have in fact ordered another one.
