ditchman
Whilst everyone is trawling the shops for bargains....i had my own bargain !!....same place as last time 'cept it was a difficult leaning tree 30 Deg' off the vertical and leaning over the fence onto next doors property....could do a straight pull, so we shinned up the tree about halfway and got the line and shackle in place,....then we laid the rope in the direction we wanted the tree to go....attatched a strop and a snatch block...then attatched the line to the landrover....so we ended up 90Deg' to the pull.........dropped the landy in 4wd and low box and pulled until she dug in...yanked on the trannmission brake and checked the rope...it was like a bowstring....about 3/4 tonne tension on it.....it is a good quality rope "freed from BT"...it has a keflar inner and braided outer and is rated at 5tonne BS...and it stretched nicely to give a straight steady pull on the felling cut........... went down spot on target......will pick the split up after xmas..........
