retromlc
i was wondering how christmas fairs for you,are you happy or does it make you sad??
ollie
it was supposed to be a happy time for me this year as it is the first with my 3 month old son (first child). However, my sister had a baby 2 weeks ago & it had a heart defect, the child got operated on yesterday but it didn't make it :( . So I'm afraid this Christmas & probably more in the future will be a sad occasion.
poontang
Happy that I've got a couple of weeks off work. For those who enjoy it I wish them a Happy Christmas. Personally it's of no interest to me whatsoever, but it certainly doesn't make me feel sad. Maybe there should be an option on the poll of 'indifferent'? Tragedies at any time of the year are bad enough but because Christmas is so unavoidable (with TV, shops etc) it always seems worse because you get an annual reminder shoved down your throat whether you want it or not. keg
Ollie, thoughts and prayers are with you. Christmas is ok but New Year is not something we celebrate, Mother-in- law passed away early hours of New Years day 2007, know her since i met the other half at 17 and she took a couple of hours to die. Browning 425 clay hunter
Such terrible news ollie, so sorry for your loss. My dad passed away nearly 3 years ago and any birthday/Xmas just doesn't seem the same anymore for me. Christmas is a time of year to be with family but some of us can't be with the ones we most want to be with so it's hard to get into the spirit of it all for me anyway. ollie
Thanks for all the kind wishes. They knew before the baby was born that she had a hole in her heart; so they travelled to London last Sunday. The surgeons said the 6 hour op went well & then 3 hours later the baby was dead. I'm gonna try & make the most of the Xmas though because it's my sons first & the missus family were all looking forward to it. As thunderbird said it's awful with tragedies at this time of year because you are reminded of them. The people in Glasgow killed by the bin lorry come to mind. Medic1281
This Xmas was the first Xmas I'd been really excited about for years. My girlfriend and I found out that she was pregnant a couple of months back, 12 week scan was due on the 22nd dec and we were planning on telling our parents that they are to be grandparents on Xmas day. Unfortunately though we had a miscarriage last week, so have gone from extreme excitement to being pretty low and gutted. So not a happy time this year, but next year will be better!
