steve_b_wales
When I owned mine, I found it to be accurate enough for my needs.
kennett
+1 to this, good fun until they get dusty on a nights lamping on summer stubble fields, I got bored of trying to find pointy things to dig stuck cases out!
sitsinhedges
They wont match a mediocre bolt action.
Franklin2890
Cheers for the reply was only thinking of a 10/22 as I would be gettin it given off me father as he doesn't use it no more so as it is free it would free up funds for a few modification has anyone got one that has been upgraded
steve_b_wales
I did a few upgrades on mine. The first thing I did, even before I bought it new, was to buy a Hogue overmoulded stock. In my opinion, it made a big difference. I also fitted a better case ejector claw, extended mag' release, bolt buffer, match hammer, recoil spring, trigger kit and a few other's. Therealchucknorris
My 10/22 hasn't been out of the cabinet since my CZ 455 arrived. Accuracy is ok (unless you upgrade to a Volquartsen type barrel) but as mentioned, doesn't hold a candle to the decent bolt actions. I use mine in the fields occasionally (when the quarry shows itself) but mostly on the range nowadays and there's no competition there - the CZ every single time. rangey
To the folks who use a ruger 10/22 how do you find the accuracy of them? all depends on what you want to use it for,,i had a cz b/a but now use a 10/22 for my rabbiting,b/a action would always hold a tighter group on paper, but the 10/22 not far behind and plenty good enough for head shooting rabbits and a lot faster to pick up and shoot 2nd and 3rd bunnys.nice short 12" barrel makes it a treat to shoot from truck

Underdog
If ever I drop to just owning a 22 it could just be an auto but doubt it would be a 1022. Had one and it was plenty accurate in the field but I think there are better auto 22s out there! U.
Alycidon
To the folks who use a ruger 10/22 how do you find the accuracy of them? Poor over about 40 yards. I had a new one, killed the first 3, wounded the next 20. Put it away for 6 months then had it re tubed with a Shilen, that sorted it, bolt action accuracy after that. Suspect the 10/22T with the heavy barrel is a better bit of kit. A Edited January 8, 2015 by Alycidon

welshwarrior
The Bergara will make it shoot well if it's in good condition, the triggers do need lighting, a nice stock often helps as they are quite short as standard.
Vince Green
Out of the box they are variable, some are OK but if you are planning on headshooting bunnies consistently at anything over about 30 yds you are going to need a custom barrel at the very least. If you spend a bit of money on them you can transform them and it can become a bit addictive. Edited January 9, 2015 by Vince Green
Longstrider
Experiment with different ammo and you might be surprised at how good your 10/22 performs once you find the lead it 'likes'. As said earlier, the best money I spent on mine was the Hogue overmoulded stock. Second only to that was a better trigger mech (Volquartsen if I remember correctly) and a bit of fine honing and tweaking of the main sear myself. Admittedly the 10/22 will never group as tightly off a bench as will my Sako (ancient, but a joy to to use B/A) whatever I do to it, but I can happily take bunnies in the head at up to 100yds with the 10/22 and have the convenience of large mag capacity and speed of second, third, or even fourth shots whilst out lamping. As with just about any .22 rifle you could care to mention .. the rifle will probably be a LOT more accurate than you will ever be.

Dan.
What are the rules with barrels? Do you need to send your old one off first to revive the new one? Or can you just order your barrel and keep your old one as a spare?

One for one bud just go to the gunsmith and get it changed as long as it's the same caliber no paperwork Edited January 9, 2015 by Franklin2890
