HONEST OPINION

Recommended Posts

I bought a nite site about 2 years ago but found the glare from the screen too much. I've now got some screen filters. I've taken it out twice since getting the screen filters but both times it blew a fuse just as I was about to squeeze off on a fox. I've not had to charge the battery yet and now I find that there is no way of connecting it to the charger. I'll have to see them at the next fair to get an adapter. Oh, and even with my hearing aids turned up, I had difficulty in understanding what was being said on the video.

The intro was a bit long and ended abruptly - try fading the music or finding a shorter piece

I didn't hear you mention what you actually shot the fox with - I'm guessing a 22CF but it would have interested me to know what you were using

Video quality was a bit grainy - difficult at night I understand but it made it look very amateurish.

I agree with the comments about having a VoiceOver but would say that your commentary was confident and clear.

The whole thing was a bit long but as a foundation to build on and improve, it's a good start

I can't comment on the shooting as I don't shoot foxes but on the production and editorial side I would offer a couple of bits of advice; firstly only include what is relevant to the narrative or of interest and make the less action packed bits more interesting with short cutaways (sometimes means reshooting at a different angle or position or pulling focus onto other areas, where possible use a tripod and avoid panning, zooming and tilting (or at least use very sparingly), as said use voiceover to reduce volume fluctuations, if you can shoot or upload to a higher resolution it will look more professional too. Apart from that it was good, it had an intro, middle and conclusion and a fair bit of informstion too. I probably would have avoided the spilt guts being too prominent but that is up to you, after all pest control isn't flower arranging, but it can put people off.

It is worth looking at the popular channels on YouTube to analyse how they film and edit there videos.

Pretty good but you could have done with doing the commentary afterwards by recording a 'voice over' and putting it in with imovie. That way you wouldn't have had to worry about whispering etc. Also you pinched my theme music! :D

Not a problem but it ended a little abruptly, you may have done better editing it a little so is sort of ended naturally.

Precision Shooter - youobviously have the ability to shoot and also make videos. There are some nice touches and you can clearly edit.

It is ten times better than I could have done and a very good first effort. No-one is being over critical - you asked for honest feedback.

Take on board the advice and I look forward to the improved version. :good::good: :good:
