wife was 20 i was 23 for the first one and had the second 18 months after we stopped at two but i i wish i would have had more both kids grown up now

there is no perfect time to have children have them young and go without partying with all your young mates and enjoy yourself in your in your 40/50s or party when you are young have kids when you are older and dont live to see your grandchildren

you take your choice in life just enjoy it while we are here

I was 41 and my wife was 40 when we had our only daughter.

We were trying for a few years before it finally happened.

At hospital after the first scan, we were ushered into a room and were given a lecture by a very stern lady about the chances of our baby having Down's syndrome.

Took the gloss off I can tell you.

Wife had a test and she was odds on not to get it.

That aspect is worth bearing in mind in a pregnancy for an older lady.

Six years old now and the best thing that's ever happened.

and a 20 year old adopted son, I adopted him when he was 5.

Hats off to you Sir. My ex wife had 5 children when I met her, two 18 year old daughters, a 15 year old daughter, a 12 year old daughter and a 2 year old Son. I took them all under my wing so to speak. Then a year later She became pregnant with our Son Chris! She had a few scares durin the pregnancy! Bleeding and such. She just laughed about it! Coping mechanism? I am unsure, but I got really upset as I was going to be a biological father! Chris was born very premature and was so small we had trouble buying his clothes. He wasn't allowed to come home straight away due to difficulties. For ME, life was complete! Wife and 6 kids, stress, hair loss, nothing left out of my wages etc.

Then She went on Holiday leaving me with the kids? Swanned off with her Brother and his wife to Spain. Things took a turn. She became another person. One night the Stepson decided to play silly *******. Wouldn't stay in his room. She was crying because he wouldn't do as he was told. I took him to his room and lay next to him reading a story! Then he started to grin and went to get back up. I lay my arm over him and said NO. I continued to read as he wriggled and started to winge and pretend to cry. Then She burst through the door screaming on what are you doing? He doesn't want to stay in bed, THEN she started kicking into me?

I am no means a soft touch. I just got up and walked into our room. Grabbed a suitcase and started packing my clothes. She came in asking what I was doing.

I told her! If you think for ONE minute I am staying, to be treat like that! You uave another thing coming. I wouldn't raise a finger to you, and I am certainly not going to tollerate it either!

I got in the car and drove off. I never even got a phone call. I went back a week later to talk things through! I knocked on the door. She opened it in her Night gown. Then something caught my eye. I looked up and there was a GUY in the bedroom window. Hmmmm OK thinks I?

I had informed her I HAD came to talk things through and She just wasn't bothered! I left and called in at the council to see if I couod get somewhere. A week later I got a Flat. Not in a partucularly nice area but a roof over my head for now. I knocked on her door. She answered, I told her I had been given a flat and I had came for the rest of my things.

She said GOOD! You can take HIM with you anall, pointing at Chris! Who was 18 month old.

Since then Chris and I have been on our own. He is 20 this year. Looking back I think I owe her a debt of gratitude, Bringing Chris up on my own has been brilliant. Her 2 youngest have been in trouble with the police, Drugs, they smoke, drink and steal. Her 3 eldest all have attitudes, one had a brush with the law. Had loads of kids.

Her son Craig, I have tried as much as I can to help, as no matter HOW you slice it, He ic Chris' brother. I have taken him fishing, camping, shooting, on Holiday. But I couldn't do anything. I had to take him home one night as he was placed on a Curfew. If he was found outside, he would have been arrested. He was 16 at the time! I saw him.with a group of lads. I walked over and frog marched him home! I sat down wih him and had a long talk. After that he seemed to improve for a long spell. Then his mum met another fella. Craig was pushed out while she galavanted with her new trophy. Thats when the Drugs started. Last I heard, was from Chris. Apparently when he went to see his mum forChristmas, Craig walked in. He told his mum he needed money as he owed some thugs. If he didn't get it to them ASAP he would be turned over! She gave him ALL she had. So nobody got any christmas presents. It's sad really! I can't help but think what would be different if I had taken Craig too. I think the lack of a father, and being left to his own devices has spoiled what could have turned out to be a good lad. He would only have been about 5 when his mum n me split. He could be a little challanging, but that I blame on there was no structure in place. Bickering daughters, and when He was told NO they would just give in 5 mins later.

Chris has had a few stupid moments, but no smoking, drugs, he does not talk down to me, he is a good egg really! He doesn't ask for money. He can eat for England and eat me out of house and home! But I don't mind that. I have to encourage him to have a wash still. But thats the Autism apparently. He needs to be encouraged to do many things. Friends have said, He will never leave home! I say, GREAT. I don't mind. If Chris lives here until I part my mortal coil, I am happy with that! Becoming a Father brings HUGE responsibility.

You sir, have my respect!

Thats encouraging Jaymo! Were there any complications? My lass is obsessed with supposedly only having a ten percent chance of a home run.

That's great news ack-ack as it gives you the perfect means to encourage her to increase your sexual activity by 90% .

Each to their own, reminds me of the little Britain sketch where David walliams character fancied his mates gran

Must be hard for the partner new mum having a older husband. When the both mess themselves and need changing.

Going for post of the year here :-)

After a period of no sucess the Doc referred us to the local Fertility unit.

Turns out My swimmers are like Spanish Builders and the old Hen only lays an egg every other month....

As she had already a child we werent eligible for a course of IVF but they did try us with Chlomid first, fell pregnant just after the pills ran out.

Second one was totally natural........

But this is the fun bit- we attribute it to "The Handstand Technique" aka, post coitus the poor girl had to do a bit of gymnastics for an hour.

This for both of em- well anythin was wortha try esp as a round of IVF was either £6000 or a new motorbike :-)

Friends who have also had dificulties conceiving have laughed at this but the ones who tried it are now expecting...... So going to TradeMark the technique

Fantastic! You did make i larf. I imagine that if my spaff was ever put under the microscope they'd all just be lounging about playing dominoes and chain smoking.

So your lass would have been eligible for IVF had she not already had one?

I'm sure she's a lovely lass and all, but that's no recommendation.

Its not is it. I've seen him lusting over soft furnishings.

That's great news ack-ack as it gives you the perfect means to encourage her to increase your sexual activity by 90% .

That could only happen if babestation was broadcast 24 hrs/day

Forget all the what if's and all the percentages, Go down the pub, both get drunk, treat her to a kebab, get home and let nature take it's course, Remember to wash your hands after you have been handling pickled chilies. :)

This is very sound advice, its how all teenagers get pregnant,

Ack-Ack

At the time the Local Health Authority were allowing a round of IVF if you were under 40 ( her that is) and no previous children.

Not sure if it still is like that, but understand each Local Authority have their own criteria....

Downs testing etc, we were told from blood test etc that the chances were higher but not extremely high in our case.

My Sister in law who was in her early 20's at the time had a very high likely hood of Downs- they considered all the pros and cons and possible avenues but went ahead anyway.

Few months later their daughter was born and is now 7. She is the most intelligent cocky little sod ever.

Obviously there are statistics and risks- but if we stopped all activities due to such risks then none of us would ever even tske a Paracetamol- you read the leaflet and possible side effects.......
