thepasty
With this years season rapidly approaching I thought I'd start a boating thread for us to share our pride & joys and boating adventures. What say yee?!

thepasty
Mines still on the drive waiting for me to pull my finger out and do some work to her. Shes a 70's ski boat I dug out of a hedge (literally) last year, to get her in the water I converted her from inboard (no engine) to outboard quickly to prove that she'll go alright with an outboard... she went a treat so this year I'm adding a few things to make her more user friendly.... I'm taking an angle grinder to her stern this morning. Chomping at the bit to get her in the water! Are you fishing or larking around tomorrow? keg
That sounds brilliant, I am just larking around, spending most of the weekend hoiking trees down on the edge of the lake. I would love a project to play with but get precious little spare time at the moment so I'm very jealous
thepasty
Here she is.... the mighty Sea Dog! In her heyday she had a 130hp v6 ford Essex inboard and was capable of 60knots.... as above my plan was for an outboard yet I only had a Yam 30 to hand and everyone I know was like "it'll never get on the plane" "you're wasting your time!". Determined to at least trial her with an outboard I pressed on with my plans. Maiden voyage day came, new captain aboard (thats me:)), group of sceptical friends lined up on the beach watching/heckling, I backed her out, swung her round and throttled up. She literally jumped onto the plane and sped off across the bay topping out at 30knots... I did some victory laps flicking various finger gestures at my mates as I went by..... and that was the start of a great summer aboard the good ship Sea Dog. We went camping... Shed loads of fishing But the highlight had to be Falmouth Tall Ships... what an experience! Every man and his dog aboard anything that would float went to sea that day. She even made it into the local press! Frequent visits to the pub pontoon and finding that special secluded beach Loved every second of it!! Did I mention I cant wait for this year? rimfire4969
Great photos Thepasty, I had a Bayliner Bowrider stored at Falmouth for fun and fishing but finding the time was so difficult so sold her, I have a good friend with a rib at Falmouth so I still get out and about. Nowhere better than the Carrick Roads, it's got everything fishing, sking, pubs, restaurants and tucked away little beaches. Our best days start with a bit of water skiing or knee boarding, lunch at the pandora, head out to the manicles for some fishing and bbq our catch in the evening on a empty beach. I love those days. Thunderbird
Brown Sauce and I had a memorable week in Falmouth doing our (in)competent crew course in 2000. Boats are cool. So as it's Friday, let's raise our glasses and say; "A willing foe, and sea-room!" (Tomorrow it's "Wives and Sweethearts - may they never meet!") Lord Geordie
My first boat was a 1970s 2 berth crossbow yacht. Then I got a microplus fishing boat. Some **** tried stealing the outboard and destroyed the transom Then I just had a TaburYakII tender. Great little thing, was good for close shore fishing and fit on a roof rack. Miss boating. Plenty of camping spots up the creeks. Head into Mylor harbour and a restaurants called Castaways great food or the Pandora Inn up the coast easy mooring at both, nothing better than pulling upto a pub in a boat. thepasty
Is Castaways the one that does Tapas? Ate there a few years back and was pretty good... I grew up with the guy who now runs the Pandora so should get a good spread when we visit.
