RossM
I bought a new Beretta 686E Evo today. I'd gone for a 30" barrel version but when I got to the shop they only had a 32". At the time it felt ok but couldn't compare it to a 30" so bit the bullet and purchased. Now I'm home and compared it to my current 30" Lanber it doesn't feel right and I now regret the purchase. The shops now shut so can't ring to find out and I'm worried they might not refund me. I haven't fired a round from it yet. I'll give the shop a ring on Monday but can't worrying I've just wasted a lot of money.
triumphant59
Shouldn't be a problem, just take it back on Monday and they will refund. Don't loose any sleep over it!
RossM
Thanks triumphant59, I'm hoping so.
Shropshire_Lad
I hope you get sorted, I love my EVO. I'm a shorter guy and the 30" is just perfect for me.
wymberley
Shouldn't be a problem, just take it back on Monday and they will refund. Don't loose any sleep over it! Especially if you then immediately order the one you wanted.
Rst1990
I have done the same as you but on a impulse buy, went back to the shop after the weekend and they refunded and I walked out with another but shorter barrels. The only hassle was the paper work I had to send off to the police
bruno22rf
I doubt that they are under any obligation to refund you-if you had bought it over the phone then you would have 14 days to return it but as you saw the gun and accepted it then its a different matter. They are more likely to exchange the gun but you might be lucky.
fenboy
I am sure you will be able to swap it if you order the 30" but they are under no obligation to give you a refund . A few swings at home is not really a test for the gun and I am sure you would soon adapt if you have given it some time.
RossEM
Err...statutory rights dictate undamaged returns within 16 days must be accepted - but refunds not obligatory - go for an exchange!
RossM
All I want is to exchange for a 30" so fingers crossed they'll let me.
RossEM
Just realised we're almost the same person. Yeah, if they're a decent shop it shouldn't be any trouble
Lord O War
If you buy something in a shop and then decide you don't like it, the store has no obligation to refund or exchange. If they have a policy on returns then they must stick to it but that's it in law. Distance selling, ie buying over the phone and interwebs, is different and then you have 14 days to return unused goods if you don't like them. retromlc
we bought something and there was nothing wrong with it we just didn't like it,the shop said tough luck,we said we'd never buy from them again, but all other shops where i've made that mistake have always oblighed, mainly with a credit note, you'll be fine
Bass301gmh
RossM - I did the same the other week but actually shot mine when I got home. I was told that they wouldn't except it back or they would automatically take off 25%. All I can say is that the gunshop was gr8 they did knock off £100 from a £1800 gun because I'd shot it but they couldn't be helpful enough to help get the gun that I was happy with. Go in and explain the situation and I'm sure they will understand.
triumphant59
Everyone is very keen to quote what the law says and what the seller can and can't do. I'm sure if the shop owner is a decent guy he will either refund or exchange the gun and not give a flying hoot to what the law says. He does after all want happy satisfied customers. mossberg-operator
In our city I know 2 gun shops where the policy is that You take the gun to shoot first and decide if You want it... Of course this is on second hand guns. However, a decent guy would change it for You, especially You intended to purchase the 30" version... Gordon R
If the OP had said the shop was Malmo, his worries could have calmed a lot earlier. The best shop by far, in my limited experience of buying guns in North Wales, Northumberland, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Norfolk and West Midlands.
