Bungle The Bear
Thats funny I am completely the opposite I would rather buy second hand Quality!! - In saying that my mate has an Armsan and has shot it hard for 18 months and it has never missed a beat, you have just missed a nice Franchi 712 on here for £300. I once had a Hatsan which was a shocker and continually jammed even although i kept it spotless - again I know many freinds who have them and they have performed perfectly, as they say you pay your money and you take your chance. just out of curiosity what was the SxS and what went wrong? Mentalmac
I was going to go for a Hatsan or similar, I don't get all uppetty about brands.... but I then found a decent second hand Remmington 1100. Parts are good to find and it's easy to strip and has been good fun.

Bluebarrels
Mate of mine bought a Hatsan auto, had a few shots with it, maybe a bit Tinny compared to some of the more expensive autos, but to be honest it aint going to break the bank,it will put shot wherever you point it,and you get a 3 year warranty whats not to like BB Some on here think if they bought a Ferrari it would make them a racing driver BB Edited April 8, 2015 by Bluebarrels
telf
bought a armsan 612s,took it out 3 weeks or so ago ,30g x 6 gamebore carts, carts jamming on ejection,6 or so jammed, right game on getting bolt back, sent gun back to highland outdoors came back week and a half later with report saying theyd put 1 box 28g through with no probs, have since changed gamebore for some fiocchi 32s and 30s but havent had time to try them as yet, fingers crossed

triumphant59
There's an Armsan 612 on Gunstar with 5 chokes for £275. If it hadn't been for the franchi 712 coming up on here and much nearer to me I would have been on my way to Newcastle to fetch it
fenboy
Out of the ones you mention I would go with Beretta Armsan .
sportsbob
I have both the Armsan and the Hatsan & both are the current versions. The Hatsan (which is currently in the for sale section) will happily cycle low recoil loads and comes new with a full set of chokes drop & cast shims and stock spacers. The Armsan (which I am keeping as it is slimmer and lighter) comes with only three chokes 1/8 1/2 + full, drop & cast shims but no stock spacers. The lop on the Armsan is quite short and as there are no spacers it cant be easily altered . The Hatsan has had the occasional miss feed with some budjet cartridges, the Armsan is a little cartridge fussy as it needs higher pressure loads also one of the sears in the trigger group need to be fetled as it would not fire the second shot from new. hedge
Bought a Hatsan Escort two weeks ago, will let you know........lol 3 yr warranty so will be going back if any problems! Spoke to two different dealers before purchase and both said problems very rare? Assuming this is a Gen 3 (extended chokes?) as it's brand new. I've got a Gen2 and it's been fine for over 18m. Use it rough/pigeon shooting and it does the job. Nice and cheap and as it is the plastic - sorry - `composite`, it's ok to scrape it on things and not get too upset! I know the earlier Gen1 models had a few issues. For me - any 70mm cartridge works fine - any load. 67.5mm can be a bit fussy and 65mm will jam quite a lot. My regular ammo is Gamebore Clear Pigeon 32g or 30g 6's (plastic or fibre) and Lyalvale Pigeon Special 29g 6's. All in 70mm. The gun doesn't need much looking after but a clean and wipe down is useful and dead easy to clean if it gets wet. bought a armsan 612s,took it out 3 weeks or so ago ,30g x 6 gamebore carts, carts jamming on ejection,6 or so jammed, right game on getting bolt back, sent gun back to highland outdoors came back week and a half later with report saying theyd put 1 box 28g through with no probs, have since changed gamebore for some fiocchi 32s and 30s but havent had time to try them as yet, fingers crossed As above - are they 70mm carts? Not sure if the Armsan is fussy like that but worth checking.

hedge
the gamebore were 70mm,the fiocchis ive just got are 67mm,we will see Hope you get it sorted. Some guns can be ammo fussy so hopefully nothing too dramatic. Hedge, yes Gen 3, Giving it a crack tomorrow. Let me know how it goes. Me and my mate both use them for crow bashing and find with full choke they can be effective out to 60 yards.Great fun and really bad news for the black stuff. old man
Well out today at Doveridge with copperkins and the new Escort. The Escort performed very well out of the box considering the limitation of the ground cartridge restriction, showing much better extraction at the end of 100 cycles, very pleased! copperkins was really on form with it right from the start, think he got 48 out of 50, smart ***! Me, well I was outstanding too, shame it was outstandingly bad. couldn't hit a barn door despite very patient tuition from copperkins. Shall be contacting Welshwizzard soon for a fitting, may as well use the spacers that came with it and start off in the right place?
