Albert 888
Right,I have morals, would you guys buy stuff cheap on one forum then sell again on another forum for more. I have had this done to me a few times, what do you guys think.
keg
Why not? Assuming you and teh buyer/seller know the value of what you are buying, i can't see a problem. Stuff is worth what people will pay no different to any other retailer in my view.
Albert 888
So I sell somthing cheap out of the goodness of my heart to hopefully help some out, then it gets bought and sold for more. Fair enough If you thinks that's moral fairplay.
sitsinhedges
Don't sell it so cheaply if you have a problem.
Albert 888
I only try selling to genuine people, not chancers, but some bluff there way to a sale. I'm honest and moral, well I would like to think so.
LondonLuke
I think if you offer it cheap on the basis of "wanting someone with not much money to be able to benefit and get into the sport" then its completely immoral Otherwise its just about if you're happy getting the asking price you set regardless of their intention. keg
You didn't say that in your original post. If you have sold something cheap as a result of someone pleading poverty etc to help them. then they sell at at a profit that you could have made had you sold it on the open market, then yes, out of order. Vince Green
My mum works in a charity shop and most of the stuff they sell goes to people who re-flog it at car boot sales or on ebay. Paddy Galore!
albert, you need to be a bit more mercenary, if you want to be charitable then give it away, otherwise go for the asking price. I nearly always get asked "what's your best price?" I reply "the one that's on the add"
keg
I always think of car boot sales as a thieves playground, they can sell anything with generally, no questions asked.
fern01
I know one old dear that works in a charity shop and has a house full of Beswick ornaments from the shop, perk of the job she reckons as she is unpaid
fenboy
Where do you draw the line , I have brought guns etc cheap because someone wanted them gone quickly or such like , does that mean I cannot sell them on later at their true value ? I would happily buy anything if I knew I would make some money on it . What does irk me is when something is offered free and someone takes it simply to sell on rather than because they want or need it , likewise you often see things advertised as free to a newbie , I would not dream of pretending I was , or had a young son / nephew etc who would like them . That to me is having no morals , not paying the price someone is asking and then making a few quid . What few things I have given away free on here I have just requested that they are again given away when they are no longer wanted / needed. littlerob
I gave a gun away but a guy turned up and was miffed to find out I etched into the stock action and barrels not to be sold on pass on for free it was a unknow sxs ejector in decent nick worth at the time about 50pound
EMcC
I have often sold items to people at a very reasonable price with the intention of helping them with reloading, shooting or whatever but cheap because I got the ompression they weren't too well of. I sold something on here once to a site user under the same impression. Later on, when I got to know him a bit better, I found out that he was quite well off, certainly better off than myself. Medic1281
I've bought something cheap, used it for 12 months and sold it on for a profit. But it was still well below market value when I sold it on. If the new owner decides to sell I think he could get the same profit from it that I did. I think that was a fair deal as the original seller got what he wanted for it, and I passed it on cheap.
Dunkield
Albert, when are you listing some more stuff for sale? Just curious
Albert 888
I'm not at the moment sorry. If i do I will give a shout before I put it up for sale.;-)
Dunkield
I do get what you are saying, I have given stuff away on here hoping it goes to good home, or to someone who will make some use of it. A long time ago I did this and the person who 'won' the item literally did it because it was free, they admitted as much when we met up a while later. Pity, really as someone else who came along later may have wanted it and used it.
la bala
Buying at one price and selling at a higher price is called business
southeastpete
Normally business yes, but I. Forums like this one a lot of the time people only let thins go for a cheaper price to let them go to people who have less money or opportunities, and would then do the same in the future. If someone is given or buys something cheap uses it for a few years and then gives it away again or sells it cheap brilliant. If they decide to make a profit on it, fair enough. But to buy something that is offered cheap or free just to then deliberately turn around and sell it for a profit straight away isn't in the spirit of the forum I think. What few things I have given away free on here I have just requested that they are again given away when they are no longer wanted / needed. That sums it up nicely for me. I've given things away to people in need (cheap things though!) And I've hoped they use them, but once they are gone it makes no difference to me what happens next. I've also been given things for free, including a shotgun from bruno22rf which I will pass on again if I ever get rid of it, but if I buy a bargain because it's been offered at a certain price then it's fair to sell it for a profit if I can. mel b3
if someone has deliberately set out to trick you into selling it cheaply , then theyve sold it on for a profit , it really isnt very good of them. ive given away(and been given) quite a few bits of stuff over the years , once or twice ive seen the stuff for sale elsewhere , nothing i could do about it just make a mental note not to give them anything in the future.
