lakeside1000
This is the pinned listing that I refer to: Hi, We are looking for FROZEN STEEL SHOT WOOD PIGEONS. We pay .50p per pigeon and collect from all over the UK on a fortnightly basis with the exception of Scotland which is once a month. The pigeons must be shot using steel and then should have the wings and feet cut off before being frozen. The minimum we could collect is 50 at a time but we have no upper limit and we take them all year round. Please feel free to give Guy or Dave a call on 01386 830089 to discuss or arrange a collection. We will try to get back on here as much as possible to try and answer any questions but if we have not got back to you please just give us a call. We also take rifle shot Rabbits and Hares we pay £1 each for Rabbits and £2.00 Hares. In good faith I changed over to steel cartridges at some extra cost ,some months ago, I called the people above and received instructions as to how to store the birds, wings off, feet off tail out then freeze. I have followed this to the letter for some time even going to the expense of buying a second freezer to accommodate more birds, on the understanding that with a phone call they would call by appointment to collect , I duly phoned them two weeks ago to order a collection of 112 birds plus whatever I shoot before they collect, collection was booked for this week, NO CHANCE !!!!!!! Today they phoned me and informed me that as I was a bit out of the way with regard to their normal collection route they would not be coming , also that they didn't think they would be 'out my way' for some time so their suggestion was and I quote "don't shoot any more pigeons" Gee fella's thanks a lot, so I have a thousand steel 6 cartridges which I would not normally buy, two freezers going flat out to keep the birds in good condition and no possibility of a collection in the foreseeable future. Just thought I would let you all know their add is not what it seems, My point is why when I first called them did they not say, " Norfolk sir, sorry we dont collect from there" and why does the advert above say collect from 'all over the uk'. So does anyone with freezer space want 112 steel shot birds with no wings feet or tails, the game buyers dont want them as they are not 'natural' Anyone in Norfolk sell to these people, maybe I could drop them somewhere for collection later, or should I just cut my losses, take them to the tip for landfill, Very frustrated in Norfolk !! :/

sitsinhedges
In all fairness 100 odd pigeons is nothing to a game dealer. They want to collect several hundred at a time to really show any interest.

Danger-Mouse
In all fairness 100 odd pigeons is nothing to a game dealer. They want to collect several hundred at a time to really show any interest. It may not be, however the company in the OP say they have a 50 minimum and by the sounds of it a deal was struck which they have reneged upon. Not really good business practice. Catamong
I'm surprised by this as apparently, they can't get enough steel shot birds. I used them for one freezer full of steel shot birds, (about 280 birds), I agreed the collection date about 10 days in advance, they came and collected as promised, phoned me beforehand, and paid me by bank transfer within 1 week of collection. So I have no complaints..? Cat.
