kiffy
im not a real fan of eating meat to pink and as we all know overcooking woodies isnt good so i tried dicing it and putting it in the slow cooker with potato peas and carrots then when cooking on the lowest setting making a gravy... the meat was well cooked and tender, the potatoes had started breaking down so the pie filling was nice and thick their gorgeous

Whitebridges
Great. Isn't this a great part of what shooting is all about? Turning a troublesome bird into something rather tasty. The pies look fantastic!

BRYAN3
Kiify. I reckon you could post one of those pies to essex for a couple of £. It would be shame if you ate too many and had to buy new trousers. Seriously though, you have given me something to think about there. Well done. ATB Bryan. kiffy
Well done mate but they taste better smoked with black powder! the funny thing is i was going to take my muzzle loader today for a change but knowing how many birds had been in the area decided against it as the autos a bit quicker to reload... even if its not as much fun

kiffy
some are little ones, the joy of pest control... if they are there they pay the price, and no their not stock doves as it happens we didnt see one sunday but two miles away on another farm we see quite a few was almost one less saturday, we had a shortage of birds that day... then saw what we thought was a peregrine something ive not seen in south wales before then an hour later we had another stocky having a nose among the decoys, we left him there a while then when he lifted a woosh... then we saw a peregrine at full speed dropping on the dove and he missed! after that i didnt give a toss about the lack of birds, made my day Edited August 17, 2015 by kiffy
otherwayup
Those pies look perfect. I haven't used my slow cooker too much; can I ask if it was all put in together at the start and how long it was on for?
kiffy
yeh i put it all in together, the potato overcooked a bit but thats what i like, when they start breaking down they thicken the mix. timing is difficult as im on my second slow cooker and they cooked at different speeds, i have a crockpot one from argos now which is quicker than my old morphy richards and on low it was i think six or seven hours. my slow cooker is the best thing i have in the kitchen

I was lucky enough to see three Peregrines circling when I was out shooting on Sunday. About 1 mile from Welshpool and 1/2 mile from a nest site. Fantastic to see them, though I didnt get as close a view as you.
kiffy
How is the A400? gun is brilliant, i bought it as my goose gun but am so impressed i use it all the time, even done a round of sporting with it, i dont think i could find a better more suited to my needs gun, i shoot left handed and it shot that well out of the box i never bothered fitting the shims to alter the cast it cost more than i wanted to spend which i supose is always the case but i had a good deal on it, rrp is £2100 and i paid £1550, camo finish isnt the best on them though, first gun went back replacment was far from perfect but better im currently using 2 1/2 inch carts and it cycles them no problem, and the kick off is incredible, i didnt realise how good it was until i took my over/under out the other day for a change and it kicked the **** outa me
