krugerandsmith
Dave I know you like to give your Buddies Knighthoods but isn't it about time Ken Dodd ( The king of comics ) received one?

tony1
I had the same thought but then membered that he was caught avoiding paying his taxes I guess that is being held against him?

Has not worked against most of the business people who get knighted every year...

moose man
+1 Never thought of his as one of the greats. Have you seen him live ? ..completely different from the TV style .I see him many years ago when he stood in at short notice for Freddy Star , every one groaned when it was announced , he came on and had the place in uproar , couldn't get him of the stage , show ran over by nearly 2 hours he was without doubt one of the funniest people I've every seen ..should have been knighted years ago . evo
have to agree, the guy works hard and you never know how long his show will last, hes probably forgot more jokes than most comics of today have ever known, he is superb live and a must see if you want a great night
E.w.
A very talented man and a hell of a lot more funny than David Cameron and his trolls.
Les*1066
Doddy is one of the greatest comedians who ever lived - and he does it all without a single swear word, unlike most modern comedians who can't tell a joke without one. norfolk dumpling
Rolf Harris had his two little boys and KD his diddly men - I suspect there is some nervousness about any act which might not be quite what it seems after recent revelations. But agree with Gordon R I never found him funny.
bostonmick
I have seen him live he was entertaining and funny.unlike 95% of today's so called comedians. As far as I recall he was found not guilty of tax evasion so fail to see how not doing something would bar him from awards.
happy.plinker
He is one of the greats,I've seen a lot of his tv stuff and he's genius.Should definitely be a sir,and not the one stripped from Savile but given a 'clean' one. Wilts#Dave
No, I've never had the desire to see him live so obviously can't comment on that (although I'm not doubting how funny you found him). As with all comedy though, it's very subjective and I just have never found him very funny!
krugerandsmith
Dave. I always thought he had a childish sense of humour until ..... I went to one of his shows ... started at... 1930 hrs finished ... 0130 hrs next morning absolutely brilliant. Anyone who saw him last night ( channel 5+ 24 ) Must agree. amateur
A true genius, but best seen live - his TV shows were dross. Whether or not he warrants a knighthood, however, is another matter. Still, Jimmy Saville got one for rescuing young maidens
mickyh
Fantastic in the 60's and 70's on TV. So I always wanted to see him. When we finally went to see him, last year he was painful to watch. The staff said he would be on from 7:30 until 1am ! We waited until the first interval ( about 3 hours in) and left. A lot of people looked quite fed up. He kept forgetting where he was during the jokes, and he looked very fragile. I just wished I'd seen him 20 years ago. Part of getting old I suppose.
