+1 Never thought of his as one of the greats.

Have you seen him live ? ..completely different from the TV style .I see him many years ago when he stood in at short notice for Freddy Star , every one groaned when it was announced , he came on and had the place in uproar , couldn't get him of the stage , show ran over by nearly 2 hours he was without doubt one of the funniest people I've every seen ..should have been knighted years ago .

No, I've never had the desire to see him live so obviously can't comment on that (although I'm not doubting how funny you found him).

As with all comedy though, it's very subjective and I just have never found him very funny!

Fantastic in the 60's and 70's on TV.

So I always wanted to see him.

When we finally went to see him, last year he was painful to watch.

The staff said he would be on from 7:30 until 1am !

We waited until the first interval ( about 3 hours in) and left.

A lot of people looked quite fed up.

He kept forgetting where he was during the jokes, and he looked very fragile.

I just wished I'd seen him 20 years ago.

Part of getting old I suppose.
