Not sure if any of you guys have seen this photo.

These two bullets were dug up on the battlefield of Galipoli. They must have hit each other & fused together.//<![CDATA[

I reckon it was a single bullet piercing another bullet in a clip in someone's pocket or the like, rather than two bullets making contact mid flight.

 

I would agree with that. The bullet doing the piercing has rifling marks, whereas the other doesn't.

It most likely did as the length of the pierced bullet would of unlikely pierced the clip casing as its side on and a big surface area and it looks undamaged.

 

In the context of WW1 weapons, or at least those using full-bore rifle rounds, "clips" doesnt refer to enclosed magazines, it would mean a speed-loading stripper clip like this:
