colin lad
very rarely rant but it's time why is it that members still go to sporting opportunities sec then click on wanted section don't bother reading the pinned post at the top "This section has been provided so that members, irrespective of their time on the forum or post count, can request shooting opportunities. Following another spate of established members derailing threads with unhelpful posts, this is notice that such conduct will not be tolerated, and that repeat offenders will have their accounts restricted without further notice. If you are not replying to offer a sporting opportunity, DO NOT REPLY TO THREADS IN THIS SECTION. You have been warned." then proceed to tell the poster what they should or shouldn't be posting aaaggghhh they obviously have no intention to offer shooting so why even click on page ? anyway rant over thanks colin

Funny I don't see moderator in your profile, to be issuing threats. Surly that is for the moderators to decide.

colin lad
No worries Phil, I quite often go on wanted section to see if there are newbies locally looking for help to offer the odd day here and there and all you get is the same few people on there offering all kinds of advise accept what that section is set up for, Simple if your not going to offer someone out don't go on that section, Colin
Cosd
Good post Collin. Your point is valid and not just for newbies seeking permission to shoot, I see people asking shooting related questions and people jumping on their backs and ranting about repeat posts. It's one of the reasons I'm not on here or even contribute as much as I used to. And regards some of the mods and policing!! I'd probably get banned if I started on that one. Mentalmac
I understand this Colin, it's a little harsh for newcomers at the moment. The PW process at the moment goes like this: 1. Say hi in the welcome section and get a hello from the Leeds Chimp (legend ) 2. Ask a question on here or ask for some shooting (which is what the shooting wanted thread is for) and get pounced on by the PW Massiv and be made to feel unwelcome with people backing the offending poster up with a 'spot on' or '+1' all the way through. 3. Newbie then either goes off and learns with a non internet warrior or gets luckily picked up by a decent chap like Colin who takes a LOT of new people out. 4. Newbie is likely out looking/getting new permissions and then won't be back on PW to offer to take any further new people out. When I joined I asked questions, but I had researched a lot before, and also was nervous of being shot down having read some the threads on here already... I owe a lot to PW really, I met great people off here, ticked off many shooting firsts from here, have been helped tremendously even outside of shooting! Have gained real friendships from this place. I am nearly ready to offer people to come out with me now (I have a golf club to shoot over and have been building the relationship with the owner and won't be long until I can start bringing more people along with me). But seeing people get smashed as they do for asking things really makes me cringe. We have to realise not everyone has the same intelligence level, the same literacy level, the same amount of time to research or understanding of the internet etc... Well, please bear in mind that we are giving up our leisure time so that this forum is here for you to use, free of charge, but that we cant please everyone all the time. If you've a problem with what we are doing or the way we are doing it then why not raise it with us directly? You can PM any of us whenever you want to, which would surely be a more constructive was of approaching it.
JDog
If new PW members took time to read through forum topics, particularly the 'shooting wanted' section before diving in and asking for shooting in their first few posts there would be less obtuse replies. I see it happening but have generally refrained from responding as I know that the 'usual suspects' will do it anyway. My gripe, and it was ever thus, is that I have taken out no end of PW members, newbies and otherwise, and very rarely have I received even a 'thank you' or even an enquiry about my well-being afterwards. Bluebarrels
Problem on here you have the doers(these actually get out with the gun)who offer good advice through experience. And we have the Sayers (these sit at the keyboard with all the answers)but seem to have little or no experience out with the gun.

Then found no one was going on any more as the mouthy types with their snide comments etc had killed it stone dead, Nobody goes on there any more.. Perhaps one or two have joined PW. Maybe the Moderators could watch the comments,And, Give people who do,,do it,a heads up.. You easily get led into a slanging match, when somebody wants to vent his wrath on someone because he got out of bed the wrong side.. Well put Mac.. Founder members of the ‘No one Gives a Toss Club’ are usually inoculated for this very reason in the birth canal prior to exposure to mainstream humanity, others less fortunate must develop immunity from life’s disappointing human contact experiences to avoid permanent damage! It’s the good that you do, not the thanks you receive that makes your world a better place. The thankless have their own world, ‘The Wilderness’ I believe it is called! Cranfield
The warning pinned at the top of that section is very clear and easy to understand. Moderators cannot read every post on every thread on the Forum and if a member sees a post that they think a Moderator should take a look at, then click on the "Report" button, which will draw it to out attention. The "rant" has been well made, so this thread can now close.
