Wonder if it varies from area to area ? Round here in the Black Country cash is still king, lots of folk still dealing in thousands of pounds in cash. If a customer paid somewhere with 4 or 5 k in cash it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest as lots of them walk around with wads stuffed in their pockets. Every motor I've sold has been a cash sale as far as I can remember.

Is it the same everywhere?

Brother in law got MRSA whilst in hospital after he had knee replacement ending up he had his leg lobbed off just above the knee. He showed me the cheque for just short of £2 million

Me about 8 quid our lass wont allow me anymore than that at any one time :good:

Blimey didn't think you'd get that much!

Not me personally, but around Thanksgiving '78 we were in one of the bars in the Mini Price Hotel in Vegas when one of our sparkies asked the barman what was the chance of being able to hold $1,000,000. This was the casino that the locals used and we were staying there for some 10 weeks so were known - RAF on Exercise Red Flag. After a few minutes the barman disappeared but soon came back. Half an hour later about half a dozen armed security guys turned up with a trolley, spoke to the barman who pointed at said sparky. The guards called him over showed him what was in the two bags on the trolley and allowed him to pick them up. Job done and they and the trolley disappeared as quickly as they'd arrived. Unfortunately, the strictly enforced rule that no photography was permitted in the casino meant that his 10 seconds of wealth went unrecorded.

In the new year from 1999 to 2000 the bank were the wife works (and I suspect every other bank) held millions

in the safe just in case all the computers crashed as some people predicted.

None of the local branches sent any money away for months before the new year.

Surprised cash is king when anything over £2000 in some places apparently "must be reported to HMRC"

All in the while the Mps deposit millions in their offshore accounts lol

Heard that before, yet never come across it anywhere :hmm:

Oh yes. About 3 years ago now. Operation was done at Bradford Royal. They denied it until a junior doctor whilst blew on the the trust for MRSA. His knee looked like an operation from a frankenstein film. He eventually was sent tom see a Professor in Birmingham to get him to have his leg chopped off so he would have a better way of life.

I did make the regional papers. Yorkshire Post etc damming the Bradford Trust and he was awarded just short of 2 million squidley Didleys at 48 year old.

I was in charge of the money in Kabul for British military. I had $4,000,000 on an average day with about £50k sterling. One day I made a chair out of all the dollar bundles and sat in it like a fat cat. Didn't feel like real money though.

Soon after Poland joined Nato we held joint excerises .

The cashiers safe broke, so approx £2mil had to be stored in my Crypto safe.

Everytime anyone needed cash or secret squirrel codes I was called in . Day or night!

needless to say I began to get a bit snarky

Used to go to the car auctions back in the days before internet banking and saw some serious wads coming out in the pay office but we only took about £2K. Loads of blokes there walking round with bundles.

Actually, I gave my son £1000 cash to pay into his account a couple of years back and his bank refused to accept it initially. He had to have a little sit down chat with a manager before he could pay it in.
