Glad to hear your ok ;)

Which bone have you broken ?

Although I hate claims, in your case it's due as you were trying to earn your crust so I hope you a good pay out to cover your lose of earnings.

£30-60k is the normal and trust me you'll need it. With hospital trips and the long term pain .

Expect anything between 5 months and 2 years to heal.

Sounds silly but it can put massive strains on a relationship so stay positive ;)

Your a lucky man and some how you're alive . School hols will be here soon so spend extra time with your lad

Run Over !!!!

At work on Tuesday AM whilst involved in a roadside recovery,

A dozy bint, not paying attention drove up the side of the bed of my truck dragging along the side of the car I was loading, taking me out and ripping off the drivers door, I ended up laying in the road next to my truck with a car door on top of me.

East Anglian ambulance service attend with road going ambulance, RRV, Air Ambulance landed and closed the road, Once stabilised I was transported to the 'Major Trauma' unit at Broomfield A&E where I received what can only be described as an exemplary std of care.

Home now feeling incredibly lucky not to have been killed or at least more seriously injured.

I've got various grazes & bruises and aches but only 1 broken leg.

I'll post some pics once I get work to mail them to me, But score 1 for the fat bloke as the girls Renault Clio was a right off.

Police are reporting her for Careless Driving and several vehicle defects found as a result of a Vehicle Examiners inspection.

Sounds horrendous mate. Glad you're able to recover though, it could have been so much worse. Oh and well played, sir, on writing her vehicle off! well played indeed.

Well,

This week Tuesday I had my renewed FAC and Shotgun Certificate back in the post.

Been told by my employer that I won't be paid fully whilst off sick.

The campsite in Norfolk won't refund our deposit for the holiday we won't be able to take in 7 weeks

Been in an increasing amount of pain this week I was worried something was making it worse before it was getting better :(

When they took the plaster off the afternoon jeeee wiz, My leg inside the plaster is black 'n' blue / yellow from base of my toes and into the back of my knee.

Orthopaedic Consult had a look and examine and with fresh X-Ray's was happy to order me replastered with a partially weight bearing cast with a repeat appointment for 2 weeks time.

Edit : Have instructed a reputable(as reputable as Solictors can be) local firm of personal injury specialist Solicitors to get the ball rolling

People used to slate me when I worked on accident claims, many on this forum quite openly bashed the claim industry over the years.

It's for reasons such as this that people have insurance!

Thanks to that persons lack of attention you are badly injured, out of work without pay and left with the prospect of months of rehab and financial worries.

Get a claim in mate, not only do you get loss of earnings (you need to provide proof of this loss) but you should get no ego r your injury and private physio / rehab.

Wish you a swift and painless recovery.

But I thought if you were injured at work the company had to pay!

So did I and I'm a little disappointed in my employers response truth be told.

However ( and this is according to my Solictor) the accident is not due to any wrong doing on the part of my employer therefore they're not liable to pay me, I should however get Statutory Sick Pay.

I can make a claim for any shortfall between this and my usual or average earnings in addition to material losses.

  • 1 month later...

Today,

I'm largely feeling a little disappointed or let down.

The girl who ran me down appeared @ Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of Driving without due care and attention and driving with 2 bald tyres and was fined £193 and required to pay Court Costs of £90.

She additionally received 6 points on her licence.

Meanwhile, I'm still off work on SSP, suffering with a painful haematoma on my calf and going Physiotherapy twice a week,

The girls insurers still won't or haven't accepted liability.

maybe the fact that she has now been convicted will make a difference to things , she has admitted in court that she was driving without due care and attention , surely that must mean that the insurance company cant wiggle out of things.

im no fan of the , where theirs blame theirs a claim , culture , but in this instance it would seem very fair that you were compensated.

Thanks guys,

I guess I mean a little surprised rather than disappointed.

I think £193 doesn't seem much of a penalty given the seriousness of what the end result could have been.

There was a part of me that didn't maliciously want her prosecuted to the extreme

let's face it, the majority of people have probably had a momentary lapse at some point, But, by the same token, she messed up and should be held accountable.

Hopefully my injury claim solicitor now has a little more leverage to apply to her insurers.

Neil you have been very stoical with other problems you have had over the years, I'm sure you will / seem to be with this one. Whatever you are awarded it won't be enough.

Head down ares up and make a good recovery, it's a pity we all cannot share your pain. Just a little spread among 30K PW members would make you feel a lot better.

Stay as well as you can.
