Well chaps

I travel a lot with guns and just had this from the reception at travel lodge

Nothing on my booking form that was obvious to make me aware

So be aware if your traveling and take the appropriate case with you 😡

All the best

Update after speaking to the manager

This includes there car parking facilities ☹️️

I don't remember anything about a locked box has the guidance changed?

This is what happens when go around asking silly questions.... You get jumped up silly answers......

Sorry I didn't ask any questions

Merely staying at a travel lodge

Gun in a locked travel case however you have to get it to your room

(Unseen) to hide it is a tad difficult

Just making you all aware here

It could spoil your trip to for example the pw charity shoot if you suddenly discovered that your plastic gun case is not acceptable

Did they suggest what was acceptable as I don't recall there being anything the HO guidance, which covers the subject extensively. So unless the guidance has changed there is no mention of "a suitably locked box" I can recall

Worrying at they are singling people out and giving them this ........... If you didn't ask how would they know

Letter was left in my room

Didn't ask and certainly didn't want anything messing up my shooting trip

And I always have to stay somewhere so this is a pain to me

And to be honest it's not difficult to spot a shooting person sadly locking gun cases look like gun cases most are branded

Had a long conversation with the manager about it and not her fault

Company policy

As said just making you chaps aware

You do whatever you think right when your traveling

There will be a steel take down cabinet in my car before my next trip

I suspect that I was seen either putting my shooting stuff int my guide 4x4 or back into mine

Maybe trying to be too discreet

If you didn't tell them, then they must have been prying into what you were legally doing with your legally owned guns and legally owned car via cctv. That note looks like it is written for the guidance of staff rather than for guests, so why did they put it in your room?

Whatever next? They'll be telling us we can't crossdress at travelodge soon. :whistling:

I'm sure the note was for their staff sadly

I'm sure they were being overly zealous and prying aswell

Although they could argue that they were only doing there job

I can only assume they put in my room to make me aware

Cleaners go in these rooms, with their own key..

Old gun cabinet cut down to just take barrels, with foam lining,,bolted to the car in boot..

Bought one some years back at a car boot, just in case it becomes law..

It isn't eating anything in loft, use it for cartridges at the minute..

Of course your car could be stolen,so just take the fore-end with you in a suitcase you have your clothes in..

It keeps the boys in blue happy..

We take the guns down and the actions are left secured in the car. The fore end and the barrel are in a sports bag with a tube plug lock. If you dont notify anyone, no one is any the wiser. when we go ANYWHERE the sports bag and contents go with us. this this is the best security. the blanket policy is just to cover them. Perhaps they will ban brown brogues or the cordless shaver next. dangerous projectiles them.

How were they aware or do all rooms get this note.

We use Travelodge, we take the gun to the car in pieces, barrels and forend seperate in a holdall, stock in another bag.

That way it does not look like you are moving guns about and you do not become a target of the over observant staff.
