wandringstar
I bought this 15-20 year old miele washing machine 3 years ago, the lady next door to me had died and her son asked if I would like it for £100, we settled on £75 and I duly fitted it in the kitchen, and started its 2nd life. Fast forward 3 years, this machine is a legend, it's used on average 10 times a week, it does all the programmes without a problem, it gives a very powerful wash, and a hell of a spin. The machine sounds perfect, with no whiny bearings and no leaks or electrical problems, I recommend one, if and when it does go, I wouldn't look at anything else. wandringstar. Kalahari
Have you looked at the price of a new Miele? Sit down when you do, but I must admit beautiful engineering. David.
wandringstar
yeh, about a grand for a basic, but well worth a grand, they have a big showroom in Abingdon, miele world, its amazing some of the stuff they do, cookers etc. all the washing machines are plumbed in and you can do a wash if you like, they don't just know how to make them, they know how to flog them. well I just looked, and john lewis are doing them for £599, why are they cheaper than a few years ago? team tractor
New washing machines are only£750 but for the £1000 you get 10 years warranty. I've had 3 since I've lived on my own in ten years at £3-400 each and I wish I had the money to buy Miele . My mums is quiet, fast, cheap to run. I've just bought a Miele Hoover and it's superb , cheaper than a dyson too
figgy
I bought a LG direct drive washing machine when they first came out and it's been faultless. It gets hammered by wife daughter and son who all think that clothes are dirty after wearing for an hour or so. Spoke to a Service Eng for meile washing machines years ago he said the main fault as the circuit board the rest of the machines just keep going. Paddy Galore!
I had a seimens washer that lasted about 10 yrs, we could've got it repaired but the parts amounted to nearly as much as a new one, so I relented and bought a hoofer, useless piece o poo it is too! takes 3 hrs for a wash! no hot water feed either which is probably why. winnie&bezza
decisions decisions... what to get, new planer or a new washer upper. I've been thinking about getting a new washer upper as it's not getting done as quickly as I like it to but then I thought she's pretty good at other things so I'll make do :-)
7daysinaweek
We have a Zannusi xc6 large capacity bought brand new for £700 24 years ago which at the time was a huge chunk of dosh for us, it was used in our old house for 9 years and came to this house which we have been in for 15 years. I worked out it has probably done around 3000 plus washes and has never required a thing, quite noisy but just keeps going. Can anyone beat that! atb 7diaw Edited January 20, 2017 by 7daysinaweek
Lord Geordie
Moved in here about 15 -20 years ago! Bought a new BEKO from Argos for £119 delivered to the door. It's STILL going now, never needed any work. Fridge is a LEC and 20 year old, freezer is a cheapo too. The only item I had break down was the old novo frost chest freezer! But after 12 years wasn't that bad. I couldn't afford top of the range, so went with the budget end white goods! They have all seemed good for the money!
