redial
I enjoy a few clays with my fixed choke field gun 1/2 & 3/4. I find them a little tight for the above. After the game season I was thinking of buying a slab of skeet cartridges would they be up to the average sporting layout. Any advice appreciated. Danger-Mouse
The short answer is yes. There may be the occasional target they're not ideal for. Something edge on at 50 yards for instance, but they will definitely be ok for most targets.

I occasionally use my Beretta 20 bore with 1/4 and 1/2 fixed chokes on skeet and sporting. Express 24 gram 8's are well up to the job and it saves having various shot sizes for different targets. Use fibre 28g No 8, generally spreads pattern a bit more than plastic for close in shots and will reach most targets on sporting layout. I use Fiocchi Fblack sporting (8.5it) and get on well with them.
welshwarrior
I use F Blacks 8.5 fibre a fair amount and they work out to long range clays but I'm full and 3/4.
HDAV
Just carry a few of each and long range clays drop in 7 short drop on a 9 the rest 8 will do Pattern the carts through your gun before buying a years worth....

Savage10FP
This year I started doing the odd registered shoot! (completely different level to club level) Most of the guys I chatted too who were hitting high 80/90's were shooting fixed 3/4-full guns! I've moved up the chokes just to test my skill level!! With a little extra practise at different clubs, i'm now 3/4-full! I just love seeing the dust at close up clays!! My PB at skeet is 23/25 ( nothing compared to some guys on here! But I'm happy) shot with Browning 725 High Rib trap Gun 1/2-34! Just practice buddy!!
jonny thomas
My son did some research has at collage and they found that seel shot gives a slightly wider should pattern maybe worth a try if your gun is steel proofed of course Edited January 22, 2017 by jonny thomas

Guest cookoff013
I use 24g #9 and full/full. It's those pesky mini clays.
buze
I like shooting full/full too. On clay for training, especially on skeet, if I miss, I didn't deserve it and need to shoot better. On game I've been shooting 1/2 1/2, altho I'm told I could shoot 1/4 or cylinder unless shooting birds I... wouldn't shoot anyway.
Wingman
Must admit I have been pulling my Aya No3 out more and more recently its been with me on the last 3 clay shoots I have been on. Its choked 3/4 and full and fits me like a glove so I shoot well with it. Put in a reasonable score last weekend and was using Power Blue 8's what I like is that when I hit the clay I REALLY hit the clay! As it happens my mate has recently become a SxS convert so were thinking of trying a round of skeet this weekend..
redial
Let us know how it goes. SxS are nice to use they give me greater pleasure when I hit a few.

Mr.C
Used a sxs I got off bosher on skeet the other week, 26" barrels make it plenty nippy enough :-)
