mick miller
You can't feed a 17 hornet Fister? Do you reload? As getting hold of the brass, powder, primers and bullets is dead easy I find.

Benthejockey
What about 222-40? I know nothing about it other than a quick google search and it's a visibly interesting round. Whether it's any use or actually available in the U.K. I have no idea.
mick miller
I have to use factory ammo for test rifles I see. It's a relatively 'new' calibre for the UK so maybe the same problems with supply as when the hmr first hit these shores? For the reloader though it's not a problem, or so we've all found (I'm on a 17 hornet Facebook forum).

kyska
^^ This^^ Confused as to why you sold the last one? Because I'm a gun tart, and have been through many calibres out of interest! Looking at the 6mm ppc at present
neutron619
257 Roberts +1 - most underrated commercial cartridge out there. However, if you want something unusual and don't mind a short-ish barrel life, .224 or .240 Weatherby might be fun. The former doesn't give you much on .223 Remington but would be more interesting for willy-waving purposes; the latter will keep open the possibility of deer whilst being a nice flat fox cartridge, if that's your thing. Personally I quite liked the idea of a .357 / .44 lever action for fox (or maybe a .454 Casull!) but it's probably not what you're after in this case... scouser
Something different, have a look at James Calhoon. .19-
casts_by_fly
scouser, While I agree with your sentiment and think that it would be a good cartridge for the OP, getting 19 cal bullets here is going to be impossible. I think there are only 1 or 2 manufacturers, both in the US, and none exporting. thanks, rick
mick miller
Exactly, although you could invest another £1800.00 just so you could make your own... I don't think.
welshwarrior
Well if like unusual but easy to feed how about the .22 Wotkyns Original Swift Unlikely to find anyone else with one in the country easy to load great foxing rifle fast shooting not as quick as 220 swift in fact the twin of the 22-

Stonepark
That's what I've just given up I know I suggested a standard 22 Hornet above, have you considered a K Hornet, chamber needs custom reamed but thereafter everything else is easily source-able?
