Sha Bu Le
Ad says people are addicted to their mobiles so when driving they should put them out of reach in the glove box. Surely a mobile junkie is going to reach over and try to get it when he/she hears it ring. This would make the mobile use when driving even worse. The ad should have said turn it off and put it in the boot, or is that too simplistic or am I being too critical or pessimistic? What do others think Bri
Scully
Does it matter what the ad' advises? Does anyone take notice anyhow?
Davyo
You don't need you mobile on your person it can be in the boot or glove box with modern cars or the Parrot systems total hands free voice activated. However you will never stop the FaceBook mob getting their hourly narcissism hit.I fit a lot of the Parrot systems and for some odd reason 90% still want a holder on the dash for the phone even though they get told it only needs to be in the care (anywhere in the car)

Davyo
Could it be that they use the phone as a sat nav? I do occasionally.I think I'd move away from satnav on the phone. Its the touching of the thing that's the worry( bearing in mind that you should be touching a satnav either unless stationary ).Proving to the police that you were not using the phone is what I mean. My phone stays in the armrest box and I use a 7inch tablet install for satnav with voice activation & Bluetooth calling is all voice activated. Dougy
I have a holder on my dash, just a cheapo from the market. I could leave my phone in my pocket, but I like playing CandyCrush. Your phone can ring and answer and even read text messages all hands free with most Bluetooth devices now fitted by the car companies. But unfortunately most offenders are younger folk whither older car's. My biggest gripe is those driving round in 40k + cars with a mobile stuck to their ear. It's 100% live time so takes you away from ques . Sat nav comes under electronic devices stil so you cant touch them . I love the I phone for sat nav as I can press Siri and tell it where I want to go and just clip it in the holder . The thing I will never do now is not have the phone within reach. I had a bad crash and couldn't reach my phone after waking up upside down so tend to keep it in my pocket most of the time. Walker570
Just do what I do. Don't answer it !! The world never came to a grinding halt back in the 80's when we did not have these things. There is no doubt, people are addicted to them. Last season, had a young chap on our shoot and he never spoke to anyone and was even scanning his phone during drives. Sat in the gun bus staring at the thing and never had eye contact. Pathetic

I used to use my phone but can't see the thing very well (eyes) and only wear glasses for reading.Thats why I fitted a tablet (data sim so live Nav)

Pathetic Know what you mean, I was out with friends other day and 90% of the time they where checking their phones constantly.I fit a few car systems, mainly Parrot but I think these narcissistic people regardless of hands free have to be checking current stays.Facebook all the time, one of my wife's mates is constantly telling people what she's doing. My wife can basically track her whole day if she felt inclined. I think that data is becoming the new want item in any phone contract and call/text time comes second. This is an indication that most prefer to be looking at their phone (FB).So I would put money on it that most of the people caught by the police are checking their status rather than making a call. Then you get the total idiots that just can't or won't set up Bluetooth in the 1st place.Example yesterday as guy driving towards me with his phone to his ear driving a 65 plate Merc. That car has a very good factory system that will take no more than 1minute to set up.And the exuse it's my partners car doesn't cut either as most cars can or none factory Bluetooth can memorise at least a minimum of two phones. Last week driving home a push bike up ahead of me was wobbling along the road albeit at a reasonable speed, when I got close the rider was using a mobile phone, riding one handed etc. it is about time we brought the cyclists into the fold and get them under control as well. How many time do you see a cyclist with headset or earphones in? can they really be spatially aware of what is happening around them? I've got to say although I wouldn't do it and I think it very stupid, I wouldn't put a cyclist using a phone while riding in the same class as a driver because a driver is likely to kill someone if they lose control whereas a cyclist is just likely to come a cropper, bit like not wearing a seat belt, stupid but imho should be up to the driver. Vince Green
I actually object more to all the junk people have right in their field of vision on the windscreen, phones being just one of the things. You still see people replying to texts, even watching moving images when the phone is hands free.
