30-6
I bought two goldfish for my grandaughter a couple of weeks ago, kept outside in a container they thrived and grew a little. As she showed interest in them I decided to get a tank with filter and brought them indoors. Both are feeding and swimming well but one of them has his top dorsal fin down. Will he ever get back to normal, or is he doomed ? He also has a little erratic twitchy swim mode now and again, but I can see no white spot or any fungus type disease on him. deny essex
Maybe just the change of water , if its eating and swimming around normaly odds are it will come round.
Dougy
I would treat for bacterial infection Justin case. Very difficult to diagnose early signs of infection, some once they get a hold are difficult to cure. Prevention is always better.

washerboy
My sister would often win one at the fair, it would live in a bucket or washing up bowl for up to a month but as soon as my mum bought a tank or bowl it would die 😀
mickyh
I won one when I was 5 at 'The Hoppings' at Newcastle. It lived in a small round glass bowl in the Bathroom. It was fed nothing but Ants Eggs from the corner shop. It died 11 years later when I left home. It cost 6d to fish out a Duck on a hook to win,my Mam tells me. Good value that ! Benthejockey
Give it to my step daughter she has a special brand of neglect that has kept a goldfish, won at a point to point on a wet February and transports nearly 100 miles after a day of being shaken around, for 3 years and it's still going strong! 30-6
When I had it in the container outside it was in rain water off the shed roof. When brought inside to a tank it is in tap water with the stuff to purify / make safe the water together with a nice waterfall filter. An old goldfish that was won in a fair as someone said above, thrived in a blue barrel of rainwater and neglect.

It's likely the change in the water hardness and pH etc. Leave him be and feed only only occasionally me should be ok.
