getthegat
Whilst walking the dog the other day, we came across a piece of goat carcass deep in a hedge. It was a large animal and what remained was the intact head, front legs and about a third of the rib cage. The rest was gone and by the state of the bones and remaining section, it looked liked it had been chewed and definitely not chopped with a knife or axe. The meat was still red, so presumably killed the previous night and the next day it was gone. I find it hard to believe it was done by a fox, as it was about the size of a large Labrador, not some small pet goat. Also, I don't know of anyone near by that has such animals. Big cat possibly?? getthegat
Really! That's a new one on me. Puts them in a slightly different light. Wonder what the animal rights small holding goat farmers would think.

getthegat
Plot thickens. Badger wouldn't kill a large goat surely? And this is arable land, no animals in the fields. Possibly some being kept at a rented out farmhouse half a mile away.....

Find where the goat came from in the first place and go from there. But I think badgers most likely suspects.
