The Burpster
It’s only one animal at the moment I have just heard. Hopefully that should be easy to contain.

Dougy
Whoever it was that decided it was a good idea to feed herbivores ground bone meal as part of a high protein diet to improve productivity needs their testicles burning off. You can bet your bottom dollar it seemed a good idea at the time with plenty of back patts on the burk that made that decision.

I think the biggest problem was when someone thought it would a good idea to lower the temperature that had to be reached in processing the stuff. During the crusades the Saracens fed their horses dried camel flesh to improve their endurance ( Sir Walter Scott wrote in " The talisman")

Totally disagree feeding that type of feed to begin with. Regardless of not following the correct process. And what a price we have paid too. Not too sure how many of the end users knew where the protein that went in to the feed came from
andrewluke
surely all of the farmers cows have eaten the same contaminated feed???

norfolk dumpling
The problem here is press coverage - there have been a number of isolated incidents in recent years which have not been reported as this recent incident was. An overreaction by reporters bored by other more important stories - such as Strictly infidelities!!!!

Vince Green
There have always been isolated incidents in cattle, the epidemic wasn't new, just the extent.
