squodged
What's The Best All Round Cartridge for Sporting? I like Eley First 7.5's and Gamebore Blue Diamond 9's if I can get them.
Andy W
Victory 480's in 71/2 are my favourites, have used some 9's recently on close stuff but cant really see an advantage, can still hit with a 71/2.
Markio
Gamebore White Diamond #8 for me. Recoil is quite soft and they break stuff if i point the gun in the right place.
webber
Cant disagree with the first two replies, Most shots are 7 1/2, but I keep a few boxes of 9s for close up shots. I always use fibre wads, but I guess that's a different debate. webber
garyb
I stick with express super comp in 7 1/2 28g Perhaps it's because they are clear - and I like looking at the bits inside
Emmsy
FOB Mondial 28gm 7 1/2 for everything - including pigeons !
Dunkield
I have tried Eley Superbs in plastic and VIP's in Fibre recently in 8 - they both seem like decent cartridges to me
Mungler
I have been using the black Eley No. 8's (about £100 for 1000) and they are excellent. I use them every week at my local shoot and for general larking about on the clays. I have used 1000's upon 1000's of these and they shoot well and don't foul the gun. And never had a failure. For the serious stuff I get 100 of the most expensive cartridges I can find in 8's. It's all in the head but with the gun, chokes and cartridges boxes ticked it's then definitely down to me, no excuses.
Whitebridges
Hull Intercomp HV 28g plastic wad in 8's. Soft shooting, consistent and they don't break the bank.
Markio
I meant white GOLD, not diamond. Sorry.
pin
Hull Sovereign FITASC etxreme range in 8's plastic wad Not cheap but they break long edge on stuff but seem to be able to do the closer fast stuff too

Mung this could be a dangerous game to play stepping up to better/faster shells you could start overleading stuff i did Hull Sovereign FITASC in 7.5 or 8 for me
pin
Hull Sovereign FITASC in 7.5 or 8 for me Now you see there's proof you are on the right track. Top shooter you'd love to beat but won't, is using the shells you chose to beat you. Proves I need more skill not more shell
Zapp
Gamebore white gold 8's for everything clay related (except trap but I dont bother with that mallarkey). ZB

Spaniel
I have been using Blue Diamonds 7.5 or Eley Hawks 7.5, The Eleys seem to leave less powder in the Barrels also for some reason. I have evn been using these for Pigeon shooting and they seem to bring them down dead at 40 to 50yds out. Last time i payed £120 for 1000 Eley Hawks (might be called Blue Hawks), that was at Litts Newport Cheers

MC
I use Express World Cup in 7.5's, 8's and 9's depending on the bird, I always use 1/4 choke in both barrels and vary the pattern by using different shot.

Wookie
Either claybuster 7.5 28g (fibre wad optional!) or my current fave: Eley Olympic Trap 8 28g. They seem to have pretty much the same range as the Claybusters, are about the same sort of price and have a few more pellets in. And they are blue, so you can see them easily to pick them up. Basically, the best cartridge I have found for sporting is one that: a) works hits things c) is cheap Which explains my selections.
stevethevanman
My fav cartridges are victory 480 trap felts in 8's,if I cant get them I will use hull intercomp 7.5's Steve
starlight32
Eley first's for me, 108 a thou. Who uses the claybuster's? I have not used them but everyone is moaning about them being noisier and dirtier as with the D&J's
stevethevanman
The dirtyest cart I have ever tried has to be these things called Primas will never use them again, after one 25 cart box I came home and cleaned the gun absoulouley tonnes and tonnes of fouling and crud will never use them again
