Lloyd90
Wonder if it will be all bins or whether they'll try and get around it? Ours does the bins on one Friday and the recycling the next Friday...

I wonder if they'll claim that counts as weekly collections and they won't need to do the landfill every week...
panoma1
The local authority's legal responsibility is to collect refuse, I don't think the law stipulates how regularly this is done? I don't think collecting sorted recycled materials is a legal responsibility of the LA, but they make money out of it so they provide the service! Collecting refuse should be a weekly service, as it is potentially a public health issue!

mel b3
michael gove spent a few hours at my depot a couple of months ago , he was just asking the binmen a few general questions about the service etc. its nice to think that refuse collections will either stay weekly , or return to weekly , and that green waste collections will be free , the scary part is that despite promises of government funding , the services will more than likely be funded by more pay cuts , and cutting other services, personally , i think its just a step closer to pay per bin. JohnfromUK
Old boy I know localy who likes a bottle or two of cider was very concerned when the moved the recycling to once a fortnight. He said it would only be OK if they gave him a skip instead of a small bin for the bottles!
