crow control and a first video attempt

Recommended Posts

The farm that I shoot has three fields that my house backs directly onto and having just purchased a shotkam from a user on here I desperately wanted to try it out! (Been after one for years) farmer drilled a few fields about a quarter mile up the road that has been getting a fair bit of attention from the local crows as he gave me a call. Spoke to police about legalities of shooting and got a response consisting of links to the basic isolation info nothing specific so I didn’t want to risk anything and that ruled out setting up actually on the drilling as there's a footpath never usually used by more than 2 people a day currently being used by half of Bucks it seems 🙄 so I attempted just a couple hours of pulling a few on the grass field, no real flightline across it but got a few down whilst staying within complete isolation so all was well.

Setup was half dozen pigeon decoys in generic U roughly 30yards to centre of pattern with 2 full body crows and a jackdaw on an a1 turbo flapper placed approx 10yards in front of the pigeons

If anyone has suggestions of better video editing software etc please comment as had no idea what I was doing! Oh and ignore the music haha I do love these cameras though 🙌🏽

I use Youcut to string together the shotkam vids. No better, no worse than what you've used. No music on mine though🥴 I don't think there's much to choose between apps, just stick with what you're comfortable with.

Okay cool I’ll persevere with this one for now then...but it seems leaving off the music would be preferable or maybe just need to find the pigeon shooting community’s taste 🤔😂 thanks for the reply mate 👍🏼

Some of the pigeons you were attempting were quite a distance away.

As for the music, I am sure that most of us would prefer a commentary, expletives excluded.

The thing is with Shotkam, there is sound but playback is 1/6 of actual. If you listen to original footage the voice is there if anything said, like "Oops, golly gosh I missed" but it's so distorted it sounds like you're saying something that rhymes with "cooking" or questioning the birds parentage.🤫

As for adding a commentary after, I struggle to string the vids into one playable unit as is. Adding extras, wow, golly gosh, that's beyond me. I'm sure plenty of the younger technical knowledge guys could do it though.

Good to see thanks, what force area was that with staff who understand that being alone in wide open spaces is acceptable?

Thames valley, I have also emailed the firearms licensing dept. To see if they’d be able to clarify anything for certain so will post on here if they can say yes or no for sure

Some nice clean kills there and good viewing, thanks for posting it.
I don't like music on vids, but do like to hear the shots and general noise, so that is a dilemma.

Lets see some more.👍

I intend on trying to put together some videos hopefully fairly regularly but of all sorts of shooting antics and as this one has been received well with some good feedback I have a couple ideas to improve them especially as hoping my editing skills can improve a bit 😂 wouldn’t hurt if my shooting can do the same lol
