Walker570
Yep, very sad indeed. That aircraft has a very high safety record as well.

Vince Green
If they were exercising that far out to sea they were probably doing something pretty close to the limits
ditchman
17 hours ago, Vince Green said: If they were exercising that far out to sea they were probably doing something pretty close to the limits saw the radar track of it.................it was reported it was practice dogfighting............as vince said ...maybe going to close to the G limits and passed out.........whatever it was it was a shame....like when that Marine corps helicopter went down over the bird reserve here....rekon it flew into a flock of roosting geese at low altitude yet more loss............. Jaymo
Anti g-loc software with auto terrain avoidance so unless recovery wasn’t possible ( g-loc induced recovery is very quick but often a bit of confusion ensues). Operating that far out- oh boy that’s a blink of an eye and have encountered some of those ‘fly boys’ practicing far far from home ...... also caused me so lovely TCAS RA’s which causes a few upsets pax and more bloody paperwork ( electronic now, but still a pain when I should be in the bar)

AVB
Apparently one of the returning jets had cockpit damage so perhaps bird strike.

Maybe inter-ac impact during air-to-air combat that went wrong. Anyway, God RIP someone doing a very skilled task that clearly went wrong.
