The Leicester Problem

Leicester is showing a rise in the number of cases of covid19, a stricter longer lockdown is coming in to action.

The Mayor of Leicester repeatedly states that this should not happen, he feels it is unfair.

He is also the same Labour Mayor of Leicester who was admonished for disregarding the lockdown guidance by visiting his partner twice.

"However, he added: "I don't think anybody would claim that there was anything in my behaviour that ran any risk whatsoever of spreading the virus.

"It can be certainly interpreted as against the spirit of the lockdown, if not against the regulations.""

So a similar situation to Cummings. Why then aren't the press camped outside this former Labour MP's . . . Oh never mind, I answered my own question there.

Indeed - Soulsby also screwed up several roads with barely used cycle lanes. Labour will always do what they want here due to the large Asian community vote, slippery Vaselene was proof of that.

One of my grandchildren works in a factory on a road that's been cordoned off due to being a major Covid risk. I don't think he'll be going to work today.

Leadership by example of the rule benders. If you cant crack down on the benders at the top, then the sheep will follow. Benders should have been punished simples.

Now we have a supposed lock down with no clarity as to what is expected, enforcement will be woeful. Lets have a clear statement of the rules and some visible action to reinforce them. A few road blocks show people this is for real, Officers in the Town centre sending people home, put a bit of bite and deterance into the diatribe.

How can the Mayor say they had no data suggesting anything was wrong?

I can check every day how new cases there are??

The news showed the lockdown in Germany last week, barricades stopping people going in or out, obviously an example needs to be set, but is anything actually being done?

Leicester has a massive spike in cases within its Pakistani community because lots of people have been fleeing Pakistan as the virus takes hold there. Unfortunately many were already showing symptoms on arrival here and had to be taken straight to hospital.

Chances are high they also infected other passengers on the plane.

No point in shutting the door the horse has already bolted.  Trump was heavily derided by the lefties for banning all entrants from certain areas, we should have done the same. Slammed the door shut.  Turned those boats around and told the French navy to escort them back to French soil. etc etc etcI live in Leicestershire...just ... and saw the numbers rise throughout the lockdown for Leicestershire. I said at the time they should have said Leicester City and Leicester County

Dave G lives in one of the better areas fortunately but there are areas in the City which are represented by that film.

Leicester morons about two weeks ago:

I don't watch videos in work,  but I can't see any problem with a few thousand people getting together in the same place during a virus pandemic??

Certainly be interesting if the same happens in London with all the recent events.

I think more interesting if it doesn't happen in London. A doctr on the radio earlier suggesting that there may be a geographical issue with working and living conditions. If we don't see a spike in London then maybe this suggestion is more likely.

Either way doing nothing about it is not goint to solve the problem.

A sister of my ex used to work for Leicester City Council.
She said the numbers of Asians sharing accommodation was at times staggering. This was back in the mid ‘80’s, if things haven’t changed it may well be one reason.

This was inevitable and will continue to grow, particularly in the cities with up to 7 generations in a household.
A great majority of acted carefully through the lockdown, a small majority took not a toss of notice and did as they pleased, relaxation of lockdown
drove it over the edge.
If we let anyone into the country by air, ferry, train or rubber raft, the  virus will accompany them.
It just seems that nobody in charge gives a short **** about about the problem.
I just hope that my family will have as many happy years as I have had..........

If the people setting the rules dont obey them why should anyone else?

So Mayor of Leicester and Cummings did things they shouldn't,  but they weren't that we know of meeting multiple people,  just family or partner's,  that doesn't mean the general public should say well stuff it, I'm doing as I like.

I'm still trying to get my head around 7 generations in one house, I thought three or four, there was something on about Bame last week saying how some groups still weren't sure what they should or shouldn't be doing,  this must be the older generation who might not speak English? But how could anyone not know,  its been on everything for months on end.

7 generations 🙂 if they all had a child at 16 the youngest just born the oldest would be 96.

There is a new expression in the Lexicon "Covid Migrants" people who are coming to Britain with symptoms specifically to get free treatment for covid 19 because there is no treatment available in their home countries.

In doing so they are infecting the whole plane they travelled here on and then their families when they arrive.

Close the borders

You assume the generations are linear but they are not, there are aunties uncles and cousins in the mix

Poverty? Density?

It’s not density. Leicester is 25th in the UK, Rochdale is the 119th.

And not poverty either. None of these four are in the top 20 poorest.

I would have thought Rochdale and Bradford were both in the poorest section,  and we all know the answer, but you say it and your racist.

What’s the common denominator?

Umpteen Asians flee a scare of second wave virus in India to visit relatives get free medical care in Asian hotspots around the UK but Leicester is among the largest Asian area?
