Weird food

My mrs has always liked weird food. She loves cold shepherd's pie sandwiches for example, but the other day she was making a sandwich out of some leftover beef in the fridge when she coated one of the slices of bread with marmalade. I pointed out how vile that sounded but she said she was using up the last of the marmalade. Fair enough, it needed using up but not with beef.

Is she just odd or do I need to redecorate the nursery?

thought some of the weirdest food ive heard of was that 500year old scandinavian shark..what they catch...then leave it to rot for 4 mths and dry it........looks god aweful ...apparantly it tastes like a cross between rotton chees....rotton fish....and stale urine

When I was in America we often used to meet up at a place called Shoney's for breakfast. It was a serve yourself buffet and there was a big choice. The combination of things my workmates would put on their plates was weird to me.

They would get pancakes, drown them in syrup then put bacon and scrambled eggs on top

Mmmm. Shoneys used to be my favourite breakfast. Unfortunately when I was there last year most of them were closed and boarded up and the ones that were still open only did evening meals and no buffet any more.

Women are wired up weird and odd food cravings is usually down to a defficiency of some sort. 

My wife was getting urges to eat coal and firelighters, I kid you not, she found out she had low levels of something   it's why pregnant women crave odd foods. 

Salt and vinegar crisps with Nutella crikey I feel sick thinking of the taste.

Any normal person would wait untill next morning and have marmalade on toast. Not combine it with a beef sandwich.

Pie sandwiches are normal.in Wigan.

Went to shoney's or Denny"s when in Florida.  I got plain scones, biscuits to yanks and thin warm runny rasberry jam and what I thought was pineapple ham syrup. The pineapple looking stuff a ladled on was only melted butter 🤮 dirty you can guess the rest. 

Sweet cure fried bacon is fine, candied or syrup covered bacon, what's wrong with you. As for adding scrambled egg to the mix, de constructed custard and sweet bacon yuck.

I can see that working.

I like toast spread with marmite and a poached egg on top.

Fella that used to work for me used to eat a large raw onion like you would an apple with a KitKat every lunch time. . .  Forgot his onion one day so drove 3 mi just to get one. His nickname was Onions from then on and i got him a sack of them for Xmas . . . . . .Make me laugh how some folk will happily scoff down a lot of stuff (free meat) we shoot. Until you tell them what it is.😉 Especially squirrel for some reason.  . . .I love venison heart, liver and kidneys. Munty fav.       NB

Luckily we worked outside a lot. His old dad ate the same if he came and helped us out. Funny to watch if they were sitting side by side.

Knew a couple of old south downs shepherds as a lad that did the same with their "joe and harry" (bread and cheese).

Yep, our first visit to California back in the 70s and our American friend took us out for breakfast. He ordered four eggs over easy and then poured maple syrup over the lot.

Bacon and maple syrup atop waffles is our family Sunday breakfast tradition now. Couldn’t imagine sticking eggs over it!

I know a few people who add a slice of Stilton to a mince pie. Never tried it but doesn’t appeal to me.

My best mate regularly eats cheddar cheese and marmite sandwiches... with strawberry jam!

I did eat a lot of stuff back in the war years and early 50s when there just was not the choice. It was put on the table and you ate it or starved.  We are really spoilt for choice these days and I am not complaining.  I would think the Stilton and mince pie would go well together, let's face it we put red currant jelly on venison.

That is lush, daughter once bought a jar of Goobers I think it's called from an American food shop she visited years ago, I tried it, jam too sweet but with normal jam it's nice. You don't choke on the peanut butter.

Goobers is in Tesco these days.
