EU blocks vaccines from going to australia

So I see the USS-EU has now blocked astra/zennaca vaccines from being exported to australia because they didn't meet their quota that the EU has demanded....even though in law there was never really a stated amount of doses anyway. They will now be "redistributed" throughout the EU even though they were all in Italy (how delightfully communist dear comrade). I've a tenner on france taking the lot now that they have backed that particular vaccine for the over 65s.

250 000 vaccines which they probably don't have the capacity to even dole out before they go out of their use by dates.

Hmmm didn't the Soviet union fall apart under the weight of its own bureaucracy and inefficiency? Glad I'm not in the orchestra of this particular sinking ship

Hope Australia has some sort of retaliation !
plus hopefully the Uk can export some to Australia

Wouldn't be a bad shout as we are doing pretty good so far, helping our commonwealth brothers and sisters would be a nice gesture

I read we are to double our supply (which must currently be running at about half a million a day) from about March 15th.  I would agree it would be nice to help Australia, though to be fair, they have VERY few cases and the risk there must actually be very low, probably much lower than for the over 50s here.

Mine (first dose) is due tomorrow!

The rest of the World should be discussing sanctions on the EU, for this disgraceful behaviour.

Now wouldn't that really be something!  Does the EU have a trade agreement with Australia? If they do I'm sure Aussies might just feel like taking action against them the Aussies can be a bit 'thran' as they say in my part of the world.

It is quite telling that a few EU countries are ordering in the Russian concoction rather than wait for the EU to give them their allocation
