Friends daughter at Notts uni went to the park, had a good time... Then , almost immediately her best friends dad 'suddenly died of covid' at 38 years old ? And somehow , its her fault for going to the park ? Now 'Phill' is not going to pay for her uni education anymore, and 'miss Angel' has to get a job. And heres me thinking they had to get student loans of 10s of 1000s of pounds to pay for the course and accommodation ? I also thought covid took a while to kill you, but obviously lifes a learning curve.

I would be happy to call her a selfish individual, if she was out partying and putting vulnerable people in her household at risk, if that's what happened. We best stay in a hole until this blows over then, don't see anyone, don't go to supermarkets filled with people, dont use public transport, dont sit in a beer garden from monday with potentially 100 other people..... The issue is youngsters simply don't realise that a lot of older people have health issues that make them more vulnerable. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did'nt know the issues my parents and grandparents had when I was a youth because we generally didn't need to know. udderlyoffroad
By some academic research, we've now reached 'herd immunity' as enough adults have had the vaccine. As far as I'm concerned, the young mixing is a good thing, as they will spread it amongst their peers and accelerate herd immunity. We will never reach the point where we've suffered enough for some people. Most of these people have 'had a good war' - i.e. their loved ones are close and they see no need to interact with other members of society. If the levels of I'm-alright-Jack-ism on PW are any indication of society in general, we are in for a long ride until the restrictions are finally lifted, if at all. The only shame is that these people - who are the real selfish bi**hes in my opinion, appear to have the ear of policy makers. SpringDon
Quite. It’s not like the virus will eradicated, so when the next variant appears is it back into lockdown in perpetuity? The vulnerable have been vaccinated - good, let’s get back to business.

Death comes for us all one day, it's always nice to say you had a life you enjoyed before it does. Looks like you and others have missed the point, the girls family have obviously been affected by covid, yet she went out, mixed, parties then goes home like nothing matters, she hopefully hasn't killed anyone but she and others like her help the virus to spread, if people aren't looking out for their own families then what chance have strangers got? We enjoyed seeing family last week, yes it turned cold in the garden but it was great seeing them, but we wouldn't have done that if anyone was vulnerable. I also trained for the first time since last March, just T&P but it was great to have a run out, luckily I don't think anyone has become seriously ill from covid at the club, so everyone was bouncing to get out. But this week just gone I had to change shifts for a week, so mixed with two shifts I don't normally see, and 15 strangers in a class room, now everyone there will have been tested weekly but because of having to do that I decided not to go to rugby Saturday, just as a precaution. You've missed the point. There's more to looking out for your family than just this damn virus. Keeping our young locked up like this is doing no-one any favours. To pick just one example: Breast cancer treatment referrals are 33% of normal levels. Breast cancer doesn't just give up because we're locked down. This lockdown continues to and will kill people, in all likelihood more than it saves.
Rewulf
18 minutes ago, Mice! said: she hopefully hasn't killed anyone Its daft quotes like that , that make it so much harder keep any kind of normality in this world today. How can we ever move on from this , when some of the population are looking suspiciously at others, particularly the young , as being stupid and reckless, and inexplicably , as 'killers' ? People die every day from disease, some of it transmissable, are the hospitals and nursing staff 'killers' because a patient gets infected within a hospital and dies ? Are tobacco companies guilty of murder , because they sell a product that is known to cause cancer ? Are pharma companies guilty of medical negligence because some vaccines lead to health complications and sometimes death ? The girl did not break the law, but she is still guilty anyway. Twisted logic. 26 minutes ago, Mice! said: We enjoyed seeing family last week, yes it turned cold in the garden but it was great seeing them, but we wouldn't have done that if anyone was vulnerable. People always consider their own behaviour acceptable. That (I think) is what Scully was trying to get at with his explanation of the youth's actions. But, and here's the kicker, that behaviour doesn't particularly change with age, it's just you have more experience to draw on.
