Well went for my booster Monday get a positive test Tuesday, and PCR confirmation today. That's me and the Mrs both positive insane day. Merry Christmas.

Hope you had already got what you needed shopping wise, but you won't be able to smell or taste so freeze the turkey and have soup.

how long does it last?

Our smell & taste is back now, so for us it was a week to ten days. It was very strange eating food with no taste, stopped me snacking though.

One year on, almost to the day after having the Covid virus, my wife still cannot taste or smell food etc, and I still have a slight weakness in my chest.

We're you jabbed before you got it Steve, can't remember?

Tested poss 28th Nov with a bit of a cold. No sore throat no cough. Felt sinussy and had a bloodshot eye for a couple of days. After a week I noticed that I couldn't smell volatile stuff but coffee food etc OK. Still had to isolate 5 days after cold went. Wondering if I picked up one of early omicron cases. Commuter trains were cramming again and 50% mask wearing in London at the time. Recon that's we're I got it. Thankfully no one I came into contact with tested poss.

Did either of you need hospitalisation?

Yes, myself on Boxing Day, owing to my sats' (oxygen saturation levels) being low. I spent 6 hours being looked after by wonderful NHS staff, and was allowed home later, once the levels were acceptable.

No, we both had our vaccinations in January & February.

And yet some people are still sceptical about the vaccine??

Its weird, i have had bad heads, achy joints, feeling tired all the time for about 3 weeks. Done the home tests things and negative, and had all my 3 jabs. Is it covid?

Lft is for no symptoms, if you think you have symptoms you should do PCR. Only that would tell you if it is or not

If it was Covid then I would have expected it to show up on a LFT if your doing it right, but I wouldn't expect the symptoms to last three weeks, could it be regular Flu?

Probably best to do a PCR wait for the results then if it's clear call your doctor,  but it's going to be Xmas eve when you get your results.

As long as you both stay relatively healthy, at least you can enjoy the day together ….

Just one of you having it would be really miserable.

When I had covid in january/February,  I had to stay off work for a month .  I wasn't feeling as ill after the first two weeks ,   but I still had symptoms.  The medical advice was , if you've still got symptoms then you've still got it.

At the time , I was under the impression that after ten days(as that was the isolation period) , you were clear of covid . Pretty stupid of me really,  but at the time my brain was just in a fog.

Good comment,  I'm thinking that being jabbed it's ten days, and your done.

Lockdowns have ruined our immune systems

This I agree with .

Really, how? I've had one three day sniffle, wife didn't get it, nor did my daughter, partner, granddaughter. Daughter has had a cold for a few days, partner and baby haven't, nor have we. Granddaughter has had a cold and no one else has. Sounds like we have had a "usual" winter. My wife and I have been out to bars and restaurants, I go to the rugby, daughter's partner has his own business and travels across the country, his workers do as they want and/or conform to the gov procedures in their own lives. No mumps, measles, HIV, scarlet fever, TB, ricketts....😜

Immunity to suggestion... Yeah probably!
