Anyone been to Hawksmoor in Canary wharf?

Went last Saturday as was in London for a couple of nights (gig at the O2).

Not something I would have booked but was looking forward to it because of the hype.

What a pile of .......insert expletive...

Very over priced, disappointing quality, not cooked as requested and generally a let down a and rip off.

Was I unlucky or has anyone else found the same?

Only been to the one in Edinburgh, which we really enjoyed.
Came back from the toilet and stood on the balcony to take in the atmosphere, and spotted my OH going through my wallet! 😀

You're such a lucky bloke to have such a loving a considerate wife .  Mine just goes through my wallet in front of me , and shrugs her shoulders if I complain 😄.

I don't eat out a lot, but I think so much is down to expectations.  If you go to (and I quote from the thread above as I don't know Hawksmoor) a "poncy" and expensive restaurant by prior booking based on reputation - you will obviously go with high expectations - and so it is easy to be let down and disappointed.

On the other hand, if you go into a modest and unpretentious place without prior planning - and you enjoy your meal, it will be one you remember.

Some of the most memorable meals I have had have been just found by accident.  The downside is that sometimes, if you go back again, it never seems so good second time round - and I'm sure that is simply down to going with the high expectations based on the previous visit.

Yes I have been there with my partner when we stayed in London.

We often eat out, and I would describe us as foodies. We certainly notice the difference between an average meal and real good stuff.

I can honestly say, that the meal we shared in Hawksmoor, in London, was one of the best meals out we have ever experienced.

Every little thing down to each detail was excellent, the food was exactly as requested, their steak was delicious, flavourful and no chewy bits.

The starters were fabulous as was the desert.

Every detail of the sides appears to be managed.

The cocktails we had were outstanding, delicious with little details that we have not seen anywhere else.

It was not a cheap meal out but we both thought it was fabulous, followed by a night in the theatre.

At the time I couldn’t fault it at all, although sad to hear it’s not always as good.

Ours was on a Friday night :)

Went to hawksmore in Edinburgh with my wife last year ordered a big fat t bone steak and all the trimmings  when we are on holiday we spoil ourselves  as we go without. All year  so no holds barred . It cost a bloody mortgage 😂 but it was worth it we both had a lovely rememberable evening my other half still ribs me about it now as I am normally tight as with all top restaurants you sometimes get a duff night sounds like yours was one of them

😀 She knows my PIN number, and she knows my phone pass code. Needless to say I know neither of hers!
She was looking for a tip….apparently!

I have no idea, sorry.

So did she deny it?

No, she couldn’t. As you can see, I have photographic evidence. 🙂

I didn't think it was that poncy. I thought it was a "big steak" kind of place and although not cheap I didn't think it was that bad...If the food had been good.

Chewy, under cooked for what was asked and just disappointing. Perhaps I'm just used to better steaks.

We went looking at a kitchen showroom back in November,  it was a long long drive because they only have one showroom.

So we stayed overnight,  I think it was a greenking chain attached to hotel, Saturday night mixed grill and a pint was £10, yes ten pounds, it was fantastic,  so nice I asked how the chicken was cooked, turned out it was steamed, best meal I've had out in a long time.

You sure know how to spoil someone!
