samboy
Hi gang. I'm on my 3rd S410 now and have never really been happy with the pressure of pulling the bolt back to cock the rifle. Is there any way of making it a bit smoother and easier ?. Thanks all.
Ultrastu
Isn't that issue the reason air arms introduced the s510 with the side lever? I've heard those bolts can snap . And the indexing lever fail also . Sorry I don't have a solution. Bruno 22 may be able to help
Mice!
Easiest way to sort it is buy a BSA 🤣🤣🤣 I Know when I tried @Mick C 410 and R10 side by side I much preferred the R10, it felt more solid and similar to the R7 for me. stu64
I don't have a solution but can sympathise. I have an s410f and a bsa r10se-the bolt on the bsa is very slick compared to the aa bolt but the bsa is regulated and needs less hammer spring tension to open the valve as it doesn't have 190 bar of pressure to work against as the aa does. bsa reg would be set to a much lower pressure needing less force to open the valve. old man
A minute puff of graphite dust? My AA410 has a side lever.
ratchers
Its the reason I sold my s410, I hated the bolt, got a ultra now which is far better, also got a hw100 which is better again.
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, I had an AA 410 carbine and used for 5 years with no problems on the bolt mechanism , same with a mk 1 BSA R10, pull back on the up, load up on the down , theres a chap on the AGF (cloverleaf) he is the forums expert on air arm rifles, but I have to say bolt action PCP rifles can be unpredictable, Edited November 27, 2022 by oldypigeonpopper
steve_b_wales
I've got a a S410 Xtra FAC and don't find the bolt too bad to operate. Having said that, I haven't tried any other's to compare.
222mark
Never had a problem with any Air Arms 400 or 410 i've owned. Character of the guns i reckon.
sam triple
S510 side lever the way , I had a Daystate Harrier with bolt action and hated that
snarepeg
Come across a lot with these, a lot with extra strength springs fitted.🙄 these ussualy lead to the indexing post problems. a normal bolt action will cycle nice and smoothly, in fact I like it better than the side lever. got a BSA super 10 and can't fault it either.😊👍🇬🇧
shooter22
Was going to say as above, my standard spring east to pull , now stick a fac on, so much harder the easiest way is to adjust the firing pot, and then cut the spring down or get a softer 1 there’s ways and mean,
30-6
On my s200, plastic bolt, put the rifle in my shoulder and pull back quite easy. On my s410 xtra, it is harder, so I put rifle in my shoulder and across my knee to support weight of rifle. It's easier if you lift your foot up onto something. As I'm sure everybody is aware, you must pull the bolt back dead straight. I wrap my thumb around the bolt and this seems to make you pull back straight, if that makes sense. samboy
I did put a drop of oil on the bolt and it has made it easier. Also the gun has not had much use so i suppose that could be why the bolt was a tad hard to pull back. Needs running in.
